Wheel clamp
Hi
We are going to be picking up our new Triton 430 from AL in a week or so! Very excited.
Can anyone recommend a good but reasonably priced wheel clamp that will fit? It has allow wheels but a steel spare.
Many thanks
Rich

Logic dictates that if you have 2 alloy wheels and one steel one you only need one that fits an alloy wheel as you will always have at least one alloy wheel on the axle.

Hi RichB - exciting times! I'm sure that you will love your Triton.
We were in your position this time last year and not sure what to get. Your insurance will expect you to fit a wheel lock when you park up. There are lots on the market and it is a bit of personal choice. I guess one of the things for us was how easy it would be for me to fit and then remove.
We started off with a SAS SupaClamp Duo. This is not too heavy and easy to fit.
However our friends had their van stolen and this sent me a bit over the top! I bought a really heavy duty Bulldog Clamp and I started using this one. This is a great piece of kit and gave us peace of mind. However it is incredibly heavy and you have to learn the technique of getting it off and on without trapping your fingers in the heavy arms. After trapping a hand very painfully I now always use heavy duty gardening gloves when handling it. We took this a couple of times on our travels BUT it is heavy duty.
I have now reached a compromise position. I put the Bulldog Clamp on whenever the van is parked up at home for any period of time, especially over winter. When we go away on sites for a week I only take the lighter SAS Clamp and put it on as soon as we pitch up or if we park at a service station. Probably if I had our time again I might only have bought the SAS.
I guess I am saying have a good look at what is available and buy a clamp that fits your circumstances. I have iffy hips so I need something that goes on easily - it is no fun being on your knees in the pouring rain struggling with a complex mechanism. Hope this helps.

Hi Mike
Many thanks for the response. Sounds a bit like the SAS SupaClamp Duo. I think this is the one Automotive Leisure suggested so that sounds like a quorum.
Hope the hips are ok!
Cheers
Rich
We use one of these on our 430:

It met the requirements of our insurers and literally takes 10 seconds to put on and take off. A wheel nut is replaced with a special receiver nut then it just locks into there with a bar going through the wheel meaning the wheel cannot turn.

If I had alloys the Nemesis Ultra would be high on my list. As it is I use the Milenco Compact along with their steady locks.
Bulldog are good but soooo heavy esp with dodgy back and knees :)

I'm afraid that is somewhat generic information on their website.
The wheel nuts are not the same profile on alloy and steel rims on the Eriba. This means that if you use one of these on a steel rim the lock receiver wheel bolt will not be seated correctly and so - potentially - will either be subject to loosening or over torquing. With a round O shouldered bolt the contact area in a V shaped taper is minimal.
