Sir Frantone,
I have just noticed that when you open the door to access the under seat locker that the knuckle/pivot point of the hinge/stay is lower than the top of the door opening. Looks like you are frequently going to hit the hinge and dislodge it.

I placed some windbreaks lengthwise, in my 2016 Triton, ensuring that no hard parts abutted the cupboards. I can, however, see some slight marks on the washroom door. Never been an issue for my 1995 Puck. Disappointing.

And now for some good news for a change.
The latest generation of fridges seem to be more efficient.
Currently in the Dordogne and cannot believe the weather. 31c in the awning and fridge holding 4c, and it's on about 2/3 the way round on temperature dial.

Are you on gas, Colin? The fridge temp control on our 2016 Troll is not operable on EHU.

No, I'm on mains 230v hook-up.
Thinking about it, the 12v on the 14hr trip over with 3hr of no power still gave nice cold beer.

As in faulty or not designed to?
Which fridge model do you have, Alan?

(The Dometic RM53xx series have just the one temperature controller for both gas and 230V operation)

I have to say that our 20 year old fridge is great. We have ice cubes just as quickly as in our home freezer.

Hi Colin
As I look out of the window here in Lancashire and watch the rainwater pouring off the top of our Troll and adding to the pools on our drive it is good to visualise someone in their Eriba basking in 31 degrees of heat and having cold beer. Enjoy it to the full! MikeT

Thanks Mike, temperature dropped to an icy 22c today, but I'm still coping.
Just noticed that outside water filler cap broken and flap to body of filler (like 230v flap). Another warranty claim submitted.

Sorry for the late reply, John, and for any possible confusion caused, Colin. Had I taken a look at the fridge manual as opposed to relying solely upon information given upon hand over by the dealers representative who I now discover hadn't got a clue about what he was talking about, I would have discovered that our Dometic RM 5330 fridge does indeed have an operational temperature control both on 230V and gas supply. In fact, I should have
referred the matter to 'management' who of course already knew this fact.

Took it back to the dealer for repair after 3 night’s usage from new. One locker door dropped off and five with cracks around the hinges.
He has had it for 8 weeks now and still not repaired.
Suposidly awaiting cupboard doors fro Germany.
They have had the caravan longer than i have had it since purchasing in August.

There was an official Hymer recall for our Triton 430 especially to rectify this problem. The remedy was that brushed aluminium strips were fixed to the ledge along the entire length through which the hinges were then screwed. The end result was actually quite optically pleasing. I think the following images should clarify the above.

Terryc and Grandad Super,
when Hymer moved production to Germany for 2010 they had problems with top locker carcase plywood. As Deep has posted the lockers needed a (rather nice looking) repair.
Unfortunately Hymer then made another cock-up. They used poor quality plywood for the top locker doors. The low density of the plywood has meant the screws pull out. If they had kept the top locker design and use of hinges as in previous years they would have been fine (only one recently reported problem). If you want to get technical the screws used, despite having a small head for the gauge, are hinge bound if screwed in at any angle other than 90 degrees. This puts added pressure on the screws.
I have had 4 doors replaced, and in these and the remaining doors I've re-countersunk, glued and screwed longer screws.
I did feel insulted when I drew this terrible lack of build quality that Hymer responded that care was needed when opening the top lockers.

I'm still moaning.
I dropped of my van today at Lowdhams of Nottingham. They had about 10 new vans for sale, some with demonstration discount.
I liked the white over grey of the 60 model but not the graphics.
I liked the white top locker door finish but not the handles.
But what really annoyed me is the top locker doors are still falling away from the screws. Hymer have not learnt and continue to use crap plywood that is not up to the job.
