Sounds like you have been to Lowdhams
LOL, no. The OH and I are located in the south of Germany (not too far from the Hymer factory) and so the awning was supplied by them and fitted by the main dealer according to factory supplied instructions. As stated in the Hymer accessory brochure, awnings along with other accessories are only available by ordering from their dealer network and not directly from them.
Anyway, looking at the invoice for our Thule Omnistor 6200, the adhesive supplied by Hymer, and used during the installation, was
Silkaflex 221 https://www.google.de/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&...qnF1nsU20iyqvcA.
Please understand that I am not in any way undermining the work done by John Rose or the quality, I am simply saying that the information given to me by the Hymer main dealership is that the prime method of awning attachment (well the adapter in reality) is by screwing into the frame and that the adhesive is used as belt and braces along with providing a water tight seal (Silkaflex 221 remains slightly flexible) around the screwing points and the edges of the adapter in order that rainwater does not run under the adapter but is directed to the sides as stated in the brochure. In view of this information was I to find myself in the position of considering having the awning fitted by John Rose I would certainly
want to see it stated in writing on the estimate/invoice that no drilling into the caravan roof was undertaken during the fitting if for no other reason than peace of mind should the darn thing fall off.
Edit - I can't believe for one moment that Airbus wings are held together using only adhesive no matter how strong it is.
