Is my awning worth anything ?

I put an awning for sale and 61 people looked but no contacts so :- The awning is for a pre 2009 Troll with steel poles.
So is it too heavy
not wanted at all ,
everyone who wants one has one
or is it that I live in Somerset TA11
was it not worth £200
or the wrong time of year ?
Any answers particularly if there is a possible solution in it welcome.

There's no way of predicting what might happen, and it might still be cluttering your house up for any of the reasons you mentioned.
You could try bumping the post with a new price, for one thing. Weigh it, measure it and get an online quote from someone like Parcel2Go, and offer to either send it or pack it up to make it collectable by someone else wanting to get it picked up by a parcel company.
It needn't cost a fortune to send, and I'm always a bit surprised at the number of people (not aimed at you, and not necessarily people on here either) who insist on collection even for things considerably smaller, lighter and more wieldy than a ruddy great tent and a heap of poles in two sacks.
Whether or not you are prepared to pack it up for collection or delivery depends on how keen you are to get rid of it of course, but it's a buyer's market, and more often than not it pays to go the extra mile.
I've never quite understood those who appear unwilling to put forth any more effort than to sit down in a comfy chair with a cup of tea and type 'Awning curtains for sale. £20. Collection only' and then wait for everyone else to do all the work. You have to bend your back a bit.
Anyway, that's by the by.
Your potential market is probably quite small in any case, though you could likely increase it by advertising on Gumtree, Preloved and eBay if you haven't already.
Anyone wanting one who isn't aware of this forum will almost certainly have looked on eBay at some point.

With respect Keith, your awning is only worth what someone is prepared to give you for it. At present that would appear to be nothing. Harsh, but true. If it is in your way and you must move it on quickly, is it not worth offering to give it away as a kind gesture to another caravanner? That worked for me. If you must have some cash I suggest you advertise it on other sites with a broader viewing population. Actually, where you live is irrelevant, as has been said, it is not difficult to tape the bags up and stick an address on them. It will not be extortionate to send. Why not offer a "free delivery" with a small price reduction?
At the end of the day your own personal situation will determine what happens next.
Good luck,

Is it my imagination or are there more awnings for sale than is usual?
I wondered if the new Kampa blow ups had generated a load of unwanted traditional awnings for sale.

I sold an Isabella Snow and Fun winter awning earlier in the year. I noticed then a glut of eriba awnings in the second hand columns. I was pleased to sell mine quickly and think it moved for a few of reasons:-
- very good condition [I am guessing yours is]
- it was something different to the norm [unlike yours]
- reasonable price [which I believe yours is]
- my decision to post it [2 x 16kg insured for £250?, total cost £36, I think]
I think the comment about the purchase of the Kampa Air has some truth to it. It is not often something new comes onto the market and I believe a peak in new awnings sales must put a greater number than normal 2nd hand awnings up for sale.

Just wait until all the people who've fallen for the latest craze have pitched on a site covered in thistles.
You won't be able to get your hands on a proper one for love nor money.

Hi Keith,
I think a lot of folk are persuaded by the alleged ease of construction ot the inflatable awnings and as a consequence are getting shot of their 'conventional' awnings which means a glut on the secondhand market. By way of an example I have just purchased an NR/AL full awning for a Triton 320 (to use as a large 'porch' awning on my 540) which was advertised as having been used just 4 times (although it looked brand spanking to me) and I paid just 40 quid for it. That was a £600 plus awning when new I guess. Plus Eriba specific awnings are a bit of a niche market.
