Advice for Rust under Puck 120gt

Hi all,

We are looking to buy an eriba 120gt 2004 model.

However, underneath all around the caravan is rusted/rotten and flaking away.

So...we are going to get a cost on repair, that's if it can be repaired or does it needs a new chassis?

We wondered if this is usual?

Thanks

Rust and rot are two very different things! By the sound of it, I would say that you should get more of a feel for what is normal and look at several more Pucks of similar age before deciding on the one for you.

For sure you have done the right thing and started your quest on the Internet's best Eriba forum

Cheers,
Steve.

We are having the Caravan at a good price as it's off a family member, some sections underneath the caravan has totally rotten away and there is no box section left, we are going to have to get it towed to a car body shop to get a price for the work, any ideas too how much a job like this would cost?

Thanks for any advice.

Blimey, that sounds like a lot of rust for a 2004 model.

Based on what I've read over the years, the cost of repairing/replacing the steel tube is not much of an issue. The biggest cost will be in the preparation work of exposing the rotten area. All the surrounding thin aluminium body panels will have to be at least partially removed and the flooring will have to be protected.

This pic gives you an idea of the framework :- g7p1994-Framework-separated.html

Still, if the Puck has cost you peanuts then it's a job worth doing as Pucks are no longer made and are therefore very sought after.

There have been a few members that have encountered rust on the older models, have a look at the links below for a heads up.

Dreaded rust!
