I have one on the back of a triton,and personally have never had a problem with stability only sorry I threw the old one I took off in the local skip.

I have decided to carry the spare on the roof for now but still looking for a better solution. Cant put it on the bonnet because later Defenders have a large bulge on the top which means the spare would restrict vision.
