On our first trip out (not towing), just a beach day with the dog, in the camper, we were waved at and we thought, who the heck was that! Then we realised it was a camper thing. We then spent the rest of the trip quickly trying to decipher which vans were vans (non wavers) and which were campers (some wavers). It's surprising how many more campers you see near the coast and of course at weekends!
I should know better of course, as a previous classic car driver (Triumph's - Stag, TR6, Spitfire etc, Dolomite Sprint etc) it's normal to wave. I remember on some forum's that most Triumph drivers thought MG drivers didn't wave - I waved to everyone as I recognised the mutual madness of us all (if that's a phrase).
We will definitely wave to other Eribamen and Eribawomen when we see them, hasn't happened yet though.

Oh how very quaint. We've actually had the non-pleasure of staying at a campsite where another Eriba visitor used to look the other way rather than say hello even though passing us by several times a day. Expecting a wave would really be a step too far I guess. Nowt so strange as folk so they say.

Folk can be strange, we saw a lot of Eribas whilst we were in Scotland. They all spoke on site except one couple in a Puck at Reraig who made a very definite job of never catching our eye or acknowledging us. So we left them be, can't please everyone.

We experienced something similar in Slovenia. Only two vans on one particular side of the campsite, us and a Triton from the Netherlands. A single acknowledgement and that was it.

However, on a campsite in the Dolomites, there were several Eribas of all ages whose owners were from various countries and all were very friendly. One of them even joined us on Facebook.

I find this phenomenon present in all walks of life. Every group of people all over the world exhibit the usual percentage of friendly, shy, brash, rude, and dishonest attributes.

when we first started touring on the continent in the early 70s there were so few Brit vans to be seen that you always waved & flashed lights regardless of van make,so when we came back to touring & bought an Eriba it just seemed natural to carry on the practice.Mostly folk seem to respond & sometimes we even get a smile too!

We own a Morris minor 1000 convertible which we take to meets and shows in the summer. We find if we see another classic car(s) on the road whatever the marque everyone waves to each other
