Has anyone addressed the corrosion to the stone guards and front locker door by using Vinyl Wrap as used on cars ?

Is that a big no then?? I would have thought someone might have tried it seeing the problems a lot of Eribas suffer with damage to the lacquer coat .

Not really a big fat no....I've seen pics of vinyl wrapping on Eribas but the solutions mentioned before talked about scotchbriting back to bare aluminium before putting on a new lacquer coat.

Thinking of doing the same just wondered about the vertical ridges in the original panel causing a problem with the Vinyl. Can you advise where you obtained the vinyl ?

I looked briefly at the idea of protection wrapping.
See: http://www.carwrapdirect.com/paint-protection-film/
I would imagine its relatively cheap to apply but.....what if its damaged and has to be peeled off?
M 99 420 has had little use so the front end is in good condition, I would hate to see it stone damaged.

You could go for the rust & patina effect!

I've never used vinyl wrap either Mike, but I did consider giving the stone-chip panels on our Troll a coat of clear Plasti Dip. I haven't got round to it yet, but the can is on the shelf for when I do. I have used it before (matt black, rather than clear) on various bits of our previous car's undercarriage, including the hitch assembly. It's good stuff.

The beauty of it is that if you don't like it or it doesn't work you just peel it off and you're back to square one.

The aerosols come in lots of colours.

There's tons of stuff about it on YouTube.

Apart from the obvious downside of having to mask off, I reckon it might be worth having a look at.
