Which Jack is best for 2015 Triton

Not long had our 2015 Triton, booked to go to Bolton Abbey for 2 nights between Christmas and New Year which will be our 2nd outing.

Anyway, thinking I should really get myself a jack to go with the already included spare wheel - I assume a jack will not be included with the spare wheel if I ever drop it down to use it ?

If not what type of jack should I buy ? Should there be some jacking points installed on the chassis for an ALKO jack of some kind ? if so what am I looking for underneath so I can check before buying an unsuitable jack ?

Any advice welcome.

Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
you will not get a jack with the van, and no official jacking point is provided. If you use the search facility lots of advice available, but you could start with this:-
Jacking Up the Eriba? (2)

Thanks Colin,

Good read that post.

I have ordered one of these, might get me out of a hole short term:

Longer term might think about fitting some kojack jack points and bottle jack (or might not bother !)

Cheers,
Dave

Join Autoaid for £43 a year. Caravans are covered!!

I've used them twice for breakdowns & they are excellent.

Not much good though when you have a puncture in the Spanish hinterland.

I think audi response will help change a wheel on the Eriba but like being self sufficient, thinking I can be back on the road quicker than waiting for any kind of help if I can change the wheel myself

Sod's Law says that a puncture will happen in the most inconvenient and unpleasant place possible. Like on the M6 in the pitch black and the pissing rain with artic wheelnuts thundering by two feet away.

I decided on balance I'd rather not attempt to change a wheel in those circumstances, so if it happens I'll wait for Audi Roadside Assistance or Green Flag (a bank account freebie).

On that basis I've decided not to carry a jack in the van any more, which frees up a good bit of weight and space, and removes the temptation to attempt it myself.

Being squashed by a forty-tonner would put a real dampener on our holiday.

I agree, the M6 would be Audi's job!

I bought a Land Rover jack from a breakers yard a while back. It fits nicely under the axle. I carry that with some wood blocks and it works well. Fortunately I haven't had a puncture......yet.

I carry a small bottle jack which is for an emergency only , my first preference will always be green flag recovery. If you do have to jack it up yourself it is from the axle as close to the wheel. Eribas have used different axles over the years either BPW or AL-KO and round or square. The land Rover bottle jack with a cradle is ideal for the round axle, your 2015 will have a BPW axle which is square.

Just got a puncture on the car, heard rolling clicking noise, Arrived Asda car park and rear off side tyre completely flat. Drove round to the petrol station, luckerly tyre had not come off the sides and I was able to put air in it. Got home changed tyre had to hunt for steel wheel bolts. Outcome 4 new tyres ordered, Not as bad as it sounds though as I had already had an advisory at the M.O.T time for two of them, (perished sidewalls) Happens a lot on the Island owing to the sun . but the flat was not one of those, sods law. Happy Christmas to all

I'm having a bit of a problem posting photos despite having done so many times before. Hopefully this one (of the jack I use) will work.

That's the one. Short, stocky, double ram for good lift and a nice cradle top.

It fits nicely under the axle. I paid £15.00 from a local breakers yard.
