Just put Holly the Puck on hook up to test the 230V for the first time.

The 230V switch does not light up in the on position and I couldn't hear any humming noises. The fridge works off gas ok. The 12V switch lights up in the on position when attached to the car. All fuses are OK and I had the 12V switch on the fridge to the off position when I tried it. As a newbie could I have missed anything. Any suggestions would be more than welcome.

Unlike a compressor fridge, an absorption (3-way) fridge is silent, so you're unlikely to hear that it's running.

It might be a blown fuse or something as simple as the bulb in the switch having failed. You could run it for a while to see if it works. There again, at current outside temps, how would you know?

Good point, I'll wait for some warmer weather and be more patient.

I have a vague recollection that one of the switches, I don't recall which, on one of our Trolls wasn't working when we bought it and I purchased a new one, with some other little bits and pieces from Jandi.

On our PuckL the green switch never illuminated but the fridge worked fine, I seem to recall another Puck owner saying the same thing. When we moved up to a Triton the green glowing light was a nasty shock to the system. I may have misunderstood the OP, I may even be wrong (wouldn't be the first time) but if it's just the switch illumination you're wanting you may be wanting a long time.

If it's working it will make some ice cubes!

If it's not being heated you'll get ice cubes just by putting some water in an ice cube tray on the dinette table tonight.

Pepe has it on the nail. If the 230Vac element is working, you will be able to feel the heat rising from the exhaust in 30 minutes or so.

Don't worry about the 12Vdc switch being on or off, it is not connected in any way to either the 230Vac or gas. I leave both my electrical switches on all the time so I don't forget.
Also for this method of testing, you don't have to worry about the van being exactly level, you are merely testing that the 230Vac element is working or not. Levelling the fridge allows the gas/liquid to work more efficiently whether you are on electric or gas, there is no difference between the two methods of heating the gas/liquid combination in the boiler of the fridge.
If the fridge works on gas, it should work on electric and vice versa ( unless the electrical element is blown or that a spider has built a web in the gas jet)

Thank you Ray Lawrence, you actually addressed all my mixed up thoughts in one post. Also possibly the fridge was too cold to switch the thermostat was another thought. Now that I've squeezed the Puck into the corner of my garage, I can't reach the hook up socket just at the moment. I needed to put all my garage rubbish somewhere and a lot of is piled in front of it (temporary while I sort it out).

Good point about the thermostat Steve. I believe a standard fridge is designed to run at 5C............it's certainly been below that where my van is parked!

Well the fridge worked perfectly. It should have a light in the on/off switch but maybe it disturbed a previous owners sleep. Thanks again
