Leaking Tap
Leaking Tap

Whilst preparing our Troll 540 to go off to Crufts this weekend I noticed that there was a leak in the kitchen tap. When switched on some water would pool around the base and when I look underneath I can see that some water drips from within the unit. I can't tell if it's the pooled water seeping beneath the washer or if it's this water that both pools and drips internally.
Thankfully it's not a huge problem as we'll only be away for a couple of nights and we have the basin in the washroom available.
However, I'd obviously like it fixed. Can the tap be disassembled and any worn washers etc be replaced or do I need to replace the whole unit. I've attached a photo of the tap and the base around which the water pools.

Thanks for any advice,
Kevin

It might well be the body of the tap has split due to frost damage.
We inherited such a tap on our '01 540 which was cold water only. Luckily Leisure Vehicles, who used to sell used Eribas from their house, are only a few miles away and had a box full of cold taps that they'd removed when customers asked for a boiler and associated taps etc to be fitted. I got a replacement for about a third of the new price.
Funnily enough there's a discussion going on at present on CT about using domestic taps as replacements for caravan issue ones. The conclusion seems to be that whilst domestic taps weigh more, it's not a lot more in the grand scheme of things and if you go for a B&Q standard type, rather than something exotic, it can be much cheaper.

I don’t think I could replace it with a domestic version as it requires the micro switches to turn on the pump.
I’d like to think I could source a replacement and fit it myself but I don’t have a wrench that reaches under the sink and also I can be pretty clumsy which is not ideal when dealing with micro switches.
Might have to get a man in, which is annoying cos I’m sure it’s straightforward if I had the tools and confidence.

IIRC I had to remove drawers etc and it was fiddly but I managed it OK, but it wasn't a micro switch tap, it ran on a pressure based system.

Well, I’m feeling pretty pleased with myself as I’ve managed to replace the tap myself.
I was hoping to replace just a cartridge but I couldn’t find any for a reich trend b tap. So purchased a new tap and it literally only took me about 30 minutes this morning. I had to use some long nosed pliers to tighten the nut beneath the worktop which was a bit tricky, but everything else was pretty straightforward.
Things were helped considerably when I realised I could open the drawer to increase access. Doh!

Quote: kevandnia wrote in post #5There's not much room in that cupboard, even with the drawer pulled out - for future reference just unscrew and remove the sink to gain easy access to the tap. Saves crawling about and banging your head.
