As they're European they have the 13 pin.
Be careful about your towball as well as the Alko stabiliser requires the extended towball as well.

I had a Westfalia swan neck + 13 pin VW dedicated electrics fitted to a Golf MK7 to pull a later 430 with an Al-Ko 3004. The Eriba (14" alloys) is perfectly level when hooked up to the car. I prefer swan neck as they look good (for a towbar) and cost less than a detachable, which often require a new diffuser to do it properly (£75 for a Golf). It was fitted by a VAG independent electronics specialist in Nuneaton, Fantastic job and half the price of VW.

The preference for the type of towbar whether it be fixed flange, swaneck or detachable needs to be considered. I prefer fixed flange as I have a cycle carrier that bolts behind the towball, usefully this also acts as a bumper protector too.

Re: bumper protection. That's why I like swan neck, but same principal with the flange type. If someone wants to nudge me at low speed, my car is somewhat protected. Hopefully they won't nudge me when the Eriba is hooked up. The rear parking sensors also work well with the swan, and the dedicated wiring adds ~6-8 inches onto the calculation to account for the tow ball sticking out the back. The tow ball is not accounted for if using generic wiring.

Cheers. Whatevers best suited to a Troll 540 and will fit a volvo v70 r design. How much all together including fit do you reckon? Detachable sounds the most convenient but probably the most expensive.

If it's for an R Design, it's £200 more whatever type you choose. LOL

Haha. It probably will be. Bumper and sensors will be an issue.

Not sure where you will get it fitted for £200, detachable are most expensive but I think your looking at more like £400 fitted. As a guide you can go to the Witter towbar site and enter your reg.

£500 complete for detachable swan neck by Nissan dealership. It is common for pricing for towbar only and then the electrics are extra.

Don't forget to disclose the modification to your insurance. It is listed on my LV insurance certificate and cost nothing at renewal.

Colin, you missed the joke. It's £200 extra because it's an R Design, not that it will cost £200.

Mine was £470 fitted. Detachable Westfalia would have added £80 for the bar + £70 for the new diffuser. Other brands may be cheaper and/or a better option for a V70.

Edit: Mine is a Westfalia swan neck with Westfalia dedicated electrics for the MK7 Golf. They needed to remove the glovebox and some internal trim to route the wiring loom to the computer at the front of the car, where it plugs into the factory socket. Generic wiring is spliced into the wiring in the boot, so is a fair bit cheaper. However, I get a picture of what looks like an Eriba on my screen when I'm reversing with the van!! Also, the parking sensor is disabled when towing and the bulb failure system takes the van lights into account (apparently). All in all, I'm glad I went for the dedicated wiring loom.

Don't forget to add it to your running costs
