Way back in a previous existence I believe I coined the term 'Eriba Porn' as an aspiration for the type of photography I'd liked to have used in the Eriba book that never was.

Well, for the last few months I've had one of the very few pictures that I've ever come across that meets that aspiration as my PC's desktop pic. For the life of me I can't remember where I found it and after a quick look through I don't think it was in this site's gallery.

For me it sums up Eribaism, touring, beautiful countryside, mellow light and wonderful composition. Would that there was more of this standard of photo about. Not just centre frame Eribas, Eriba and towcar, Eriba pitched, but thoughtfully composed and framed, rather than a snapshot. A picture that tells a story to the viewer, evokes a feeling of Eribaism.

Oh and in my imagination there's a steam train about to appear, you can see it's white smoke midway up the left hand side of the picture, just above the trees.

I can't say I've ever been on that website, so all I can think is that it came up on Google Images.

If I was being super critical I'd say that the Yeti dominates the foreground a bit (probably because it present a fully lit white flank) and the Eriba sort of retreats into the background because there's so much shadow on it. The background is stunning.

It's a shame that even Hymer's own publicity photo's don't actually capture the essence of Eribaism. With such an iconic looking van to work with you'd think they'd be falling over themselves to reinforce the image and create an atmosphere around the product. Maybe it's the Teutonic practicality that's preventing them seeing the possibilities.

I suppose they don't feel the need. They seem to win all the prizes.....
