Strange white marks on front of Puck

These marks were there when I purchased the Puck. Just getting round to deal with them.

They appear to look like very fine swirls of white silicon. They are all over the front aluminium panels. They feel rough when scraping with a fingernail but I can't work out if it is on the surface or not. Could it be a chemical reaction? I hope its obvious to someone here.

Any suggestions on how to polish or treat this material would be welcome.

Thanks, Steve

Thank you Mr france. The first link sums it up. You are indeed an Eriba encyclopedia.

Stone chips in the lacquer & the aluminium is oxidising under it. That's why they call them stone guards.

Now I know it's common I'm not so bothered. I Didn't know they were actual stone guards! Does that mean they are easily replaced (slight sarcasm)
