Rusty internal door hinges

Used our 2017 Triton for the first time since the winter lay up.
Just noticed that all the internal door hinges on the overhead lockers, wardrobe and washroom door have all started rusting.
Has anyone else got this problem.
The caravan has been laid up all winter with two de humidifiying crystal packs inside.
Nothing damp.
Looks like Homer are using cheap hinges .

Rusty hinges is not acceptable. Contact your dealer and ask them to process a warranty claim. If they say it is out of warranty, insist. Goods are not fit for purpose if they go rusty after one year.

i agree with Colin. We have owned ours two years now and when we took the winter cover off yesterday our hinges were still like new. I'm sorry to say but it sounds like something seems wrong with yours.MikeT

But if you will park it where the Ure floods in winter then you're bound to get damp.

Having lived in Burton Leonard for 15 years 'til 2009 I know the back road from Boroughbridge to Bishop Monkton floods nearly every winter, but BL is on higher ground so little risk there.

If it floods where I keep the caravan Burton Leonard will be under 20 feet of water.
So will Staveley about 3 miles from you, where we live.

3 miles long and 20 feet deep. That's a lake.

Whenever I drive through Staveley I remember Great Uncle Staveley from the '70's TV comedy 'I didn't know you cared'. Written by Peter Tinniswood who was a friend of David Nobbs (Reginald Perrin/A bit of a do/Fairly Secret Army etc) who lived down by the BL Lime Kilns for about 20 years, before moving back into Harrogate about 7 or 8 years ago. He passed away 3 years ago, a lovely, lovely man and a demon at dominoes in the Hare & Hounds,

Well here we are feb 2021 and I’ve just seen exactly the same on our 2020 triton

I’m making a list for our dealer because this is not the only thing which telling me that Hymer quality is substandard.
I’d be interested to know how you got on with this.

I've just privately bought a 2019 Troll and have found most of the internal hinges are corroded. Not happy.

Price / quality relationship not being met by Hymer.

Dealer claims that it's not covered under warranty. Dealer also advised that Hymer are doing nothing about it e.g. a low-cost set of replacement hinges would be a good start.

Am wondering if a letter directly to Hymer might have some impact???

When we bought a 2005 540 in 2011 the hinges were corroded. It's not a new problem. They're not fit for purpose.

I've tried sourcing stainless steel replacements but unfortunately those start at 75mm and the Eriba hinges are 50mm which would mean weakening the MDF further by tapping new holes.

It seems 50mm are only available in zinc or electro-brass plated

Doh.

Try Kwik-E-Mart. I'm sure Apu would sell them.
