Changing the kitchen sink tap?

I’ve discovered a leak from our kitchen tap (2006 Triton), and first thought was that the point where the water pipe pushes onto the blue water inlet was leaking. I’ve trimmed the pipe and refitted it but it’s still leaking. Closer inspection reveals that water is slowly running down from a higher point, so I think I might need to change the tap, which is cold only.
Does anyone know of a guide that shows how to do this?CBB72E61-336A-49B0-A7A4-14E9A5788785.jpeg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)CD993BDF-A0E1-4B2C-8EDE-4523FEBB7454.jpeg - Bild entfernt (keine Rechte)
Thanks

Turn off the water supply then disconnect the microswitch wires at the connector in the cupboard.

Press out the black plastic locking pin that holds the blue spigot into the lower tap body and move the water supply pipe out of the way having drained off what water remains in it.

Undo the large nut under the worktop while holding the tap from above to stop it turning with the nut, then lift the entire tap assembly out of the hole.

A piece of cake.

Brilliant, thank you. I’ll have this done today.
Do you know if the taps are serviceable? I’m wondering if there is anything I can do to stop the leak, before I shell out upwards of £40 of my hard earned.

There's an 'O' ring on the blue elbow connector to ensure it has a water-tight seal with the tap.

To remove the elbow withdraw the black retaining pin shown in your photo.

A few turns of PTFE tape around the elbow will be enough to reseal it.

If that doesn't do the trick you probably need a new tap.

Looking at those pics suggests that if you attach a hot water pipe with a red fitting it will be held in place by the black spigot too and presumably it would work as a mixer tap. The only other thing that would need changing is the blue dot on top of the tap. Or is there something inside the tap that needs changing too?

Thanks John, I’ll definitely try that. Although my gut feeling is that the leak is slightly higher, towards the body of the tap itself.

eckcan here, I have had this problem in the last few weeks, what I discovered was that as you suspect that it is leaking from the body around what I suspect is where it was joined in manufacture. I have sealed this with powerbond glue and resin then filing down until the holding nut will go back on this seems to have done the trick. good luck as they are not cheap to replace.

The drips on your photographs would suggest that. The tap's internal valve (Reich call it a cartridge) is removable and replaceable.

I'm guessing a bit here because the models do vary, but to access the cartridge you need to carefully prise out the blue pip on the operating lever, undo the screw holding the lever on to the valve (cartridge) stem and slide the chrome shroud off. This will give you access to the cartridge.

There's a ton of information on Reich taps on Google. Use an image search to identify your model and follow your nose from there.

My logic being, why would you put a second hole in the bottom of the tap if it wasn't to fit a hot water pipe? If you were going to have a dedicated cold only tap then it only needs one hole.

Great info! Thanks again. I feel confident about sorting this now.
Very much appreciated.

Andy, there isn't a second hole in there. The same mould is used to make both versions, but the hot inlet is blanked off internally on the cold-only tap.
If there was a hole in both ports for the cold-only version then water would squirt out of it.

Now that's logic

So that's why, on the Tranny I'm about to pick up, the cold feed was doubled just before the tap and fed into both ports. This on a red/blue tap.

The salesman was adamant that it had hot water because of what the tap showed. I had to point out that there was really only one feed and only blue piping and no sign of red pipes, a boiler or relevant switches. Red faced salesman.

Same on my 2014 Triton. I must admit that when I bought it I assumed it had hot water and never thought to check.
