What I am also interested in are people's recommendations for
Awnings - winter suitability
Motor mover - what have people fitted?

Welcome Ted
The 535 was a new layout for the 2018 Model Year and some have only just been delivered in recent weeks, so there's not a lot of experience with them.
They do have the standard Touring model washroom, the 530 front dinette and rear 'lounge'/fixed bed.
The main difference is that the 3-way fridge under the kitchen worktop has been swapped for deep drawers and the fridge moved across to the nearside where it's had to become a 12V compressor driven version, albeit an extra 20 litres (30%) larger than the 'normal' fridge in Tourings. Moving the fridge has meant that the wardrobe has had to slim somewhat.
In addition the 535 is the first Touring model to feature hot water as standard and this is supplied through a Combi gas fired water and warm air heater.

Thanks for that. I've done quite a bit of research on the fridge as originally I did not like the idea of electric only. What is swinging it fo me is the amount of boxes it ticks, onboard water, heater etc with out having to have them retro fitted. We are downsizing from a twin axel to be able to have more flexibility on locations and touring

Dave, you said a new 535, so if buying anything new retro fit would not be needed as Hymer do onboard electric hot water and onboard tank factory fit for about £600 on all vans.
Like you I find the 535 an attractive idea but electric only fridge and gas only hot water (as standard) do not make sense.
Would it not be best to choose the floor pan you like most, list the extras you want and send this to all dealers for a price. If buying new you would probably need a made to order van and from past experience such a van ordered know would probably not be ready for collection until Feb 2019.

Aye Up Colin. For what I want it for it makes sense. Off grid so gas water heating fine. I have researched the fridge to death and its the latest heat pump tech. 45w so with a PV charger for where i want to go will be fine. The one I have found has everything i need apart from spare wheel carrier, (easy retro fit) PV which as an engineer and have fitted PV to large industrial buildings should not be an issue it just finding the right system. I would have liked the 40ltr underfloor locker but i can get round that. After all the more storage you have the more you take! Less is more ;-)

With a 535 you're getting a 530 with a slightly larger fridge that won't run on gas and hot water capability as standard that's gas fired only.
Having a 530 with a bigger wardrobe and smaller fridge that works on gas and electricity is a choice to be carefully weighed. As an option you can have electric added to the gas heater and an electric boiler fitted too. I haven't looked but is the price substantially different?

I'll bare that all in mind. My issue sometimes is retro fitting. As an engineer i have seen some hurrendous so called dealer fitted options carried out. I would rather do it myself!

We have a brand new Troll 535 GT from Automotive Leisure, got it end of May and just spent 3 weeks touring in it. For context, we bought a brand new Triton 420GT from AL in early 2014 and spent a total of about 18 months touring in it during the 4 years we had it, so we got familiar with Eribas.
When we upgraded to the Troll it was to get more room, and a layout that made access to storage easier. We also decided that we'd have some creature comforts, like heating and hotwater, as we aren't getting any younger. We added a mover and a factory fitted wind out ormistor awning. We also paid to have the electric elements put in the combi boiler. A high spec/high cost van, but this is now our van for life.
We have some issues to resolve with the van, which I have confidence that AL will deal with.
The fridge is a great size but ours may be faulty, as it's not consistently cold whilst hooked up to electric all the time. Now we are back home I am going to use a fridge thermometer to test this. This is the same type of fridge (running off the leisure battery) that we had in our T5, which was fine, so I think there is a fault. The display isn't showing as it states in the handbook, so something is amiss. I will report back on here how this progresses. We have no issues on not having the gas back up, as we stay on sites with electric all the time. We only used the gas option on the fridge in the Triton once in like 30,000 miles of touring. In the T5, if not driving or on hook up the fridge rinsed the battery really quickly, so we won't be running it on the battery. The fridge has a night time quiet mode for light sleepers which also reduces the power used slightly, but we sleep like logs and are always on hookup, so not needed.
The cost for the electric elements in the boiler (N.B. not possible to retrofit) was high but, as said above, we stay on sites with hookup all the time, so don't want to rely on gas when we have paid for electric. Also, abroad, gas bottle replacement is a pain, so we have only ever used gas when necessary. Even though we had great weather the last 3 weeks, we tested the heating at night and the hot water and found it was pretty good. We could get pretty fierce heating with just the electric option and the water heated quickly too. The boiler is quiet, you can set it to electric only, to use dual fuel but to favour electric, or just use gas. I think you would only need gas if outside temperature was very cold and you were heating the van up from cold. Once reasonably warm inside you would only need electric to maintain.
We love the kitchen area and this was one of the biggest reasons we chose the 535. The pan drawers are great. Everything can be easily stored and easily accessed with no bending down. Our top pan drawer is defective in that is comes open when in transit because the lock is defective. AL will fix this but for the time being we have to use a cord tied across to hold it in.
The smaller wardrobe hasn't bothered us in the slightest. It's thinner but taller than the Triton and you can get a lot of stuff in it, just not a lot of stuff on hangers. Overall, the storage in the Troll is about the same as the Triton, given that the boiler takes up most of one side of the front dinette. However, its all much easier to access. The bed is fine, despite me being 6'1" and neither of us being petite in stature. We have the rear dinette/bed option and I personally wouldn't have a fixed bed option. AL gave us reinforced poles, so no issues of the bendy poles some have encountered.
The bathroom door is a little warped at the top. We'll see what AL can do about this but in the meantime a bungy during transport solves the problem of it opening as the bowing to the top of the door can force it open in transit.
Awning - we had a Unico Verona full all weather awning on the Triton and it also fits the Troll. We love the Unico awnings and are so grateful that we didn't have to change it. The Unico Bologna which is specifically made for the Troll is a tad wider but the difference is not enough for us to take the financial hit on changing it. We have the factory fitted wind out for short stays and good weather. Expensive but very convenient.
Our motor mover manually engages with the same winder as the steadies. Unless you have mobility issues I wouldnt bother with one that automatically engages.
No idea about the batteries and charging options, we just have what the factory fitted!!
That's all I can recall for the moment!

You're right to be concerned about retro-fit, both from the point of view of cost and the potential for botched jobs.
If you'rr ordering a new van, the list of factory fit options is long and some are very worthwhile speccing, as retro fitting costs much more. As an example hotwater costs about £250 when fitted during a build but about £800 when retro fitted.
On the other hand retro fitting a Truma Ultraheat electric element to the Truma 3000 Series gas heater is a relatively easy job and a handy DIYer can do it with little risk of bodging damage and at relatively low cost. Having said that having it as a factory fit option is probably better, given that the cost isn't enormous.
Of course there are things that are dealer fit but most options are fitted on the production line, not afterwards.
One thing to avoid would seem to be the factory fit mover, which must be coated in gold plated platinumand encrusted with the Koh i noor to justify the price Hymer ask. A dealer fit mover is a much better option price wise, though it might not sparkle as much.

Thanks for the information. Very useful to have some one with the exact madel we want.
Questions
How long did the factory order take to be delivered?
You said you had electric fitted to the water heater. (Which I thought was just gas) is that correct?

The standard fitting is the Truma Combi which is gas only. A Combi e is the gas and mains electric version and like all two power source heaters and boilers it is a lot more.

See #4 above. Unless the dealer has a van near to your spec scheduled for build I believe this this time scale is still typical.

I couldn't see why you'd retro fit, given that the gas one is standard and is an expensive bit of kit on it's own. To rip it out and then fit a dual fuel version of the same thing would be an expensive and awkward job. I suppose you could try to persuade Hymer to not fit the boiler/heater at all and then start from scratch but it would be a helluva job installing gas, water and electrical supplies and cutting a gas vent hole in the body and possibly routeing warm air ducting etc.
So really, yes it has to be a factory fit deal.
