Hi
We are due to get our 540 Troll in August & I am started to get excited & am plannng what bits & pieces we might need.
I am not planning on cooking roast dinners etc but am debating whether or not to get a very small microwave or halogen oven (mainly as hubby sometimes likes hot pies when it’s cold).
I am wondering if anyone else uses either of these or if there is anything else that is small & would heat a pie etc up.
Any tips or ideas would be welcome.
Many thanks

I resisted the remoska for a long time and took a halogen oven. I have given in and gone over to the other side. The halogen ovens are great but way to big and bulky for an eriba. You can heat pies in a remoska very well and check out the amazing cook book that you can buy.
A remoska and an induction plate, very cheap, are all you need. Also the bbq for man cooking! Imho.

Thank you, we have a small cadac but I will have a look a Remoska.
Last year we went away for 3 weeks in our previous Motorhome & had a gas leak. Weather was cold & I had only one electric ring to cook on. It was a real pain as to go put for a meal meant packing up the van to drive to a pub only to find we were too big to park then driving back to set it all back up again & eat another salad 😬
I have wanted an Eriba for about 4 years & last year hubby, who hates towing a bit white box suggested that we would be better with an Eriba. I can’t wait until we get it & am sure we won’t have any issues that we have experienced in the past but want to try & make sure that we can eat something better than a salad if we don’t have any gas.

Left to myself I would live on salads but husband is a carnivore and enjoys cooking, so we have a barbeque which we use a lot, the gas hob in the Eriba, we take an induction plate and a very small oven _ I did say he was a keen cook! In the summer we are often away for 3 week holiday, mostly use barbeque and induction plate outside in the summer, use microwave or mini oven inside in the winter, we don't eat out very often hence the plethora of equipment we take with us, make fairly simple meals, don't want to spend all our time slaving over a hot stove!!!

Nice to here I'm not the only one who enjoys cooking and likes to be well prepared.
One of the items favoured by many is a Remoska. We carry this instead of a small oven know it's just the two of us along with a Cadac and Induction Hob. When in France over the summer we also take a well stocked table top freezer and a table top fridge. Other kit includes a saute pan and shallow frying pan same diameter so just the one lid. The lid is a must if inside the van
Here is an extract I made on a recent post - "Pot dauphinoise last night, vegetable torte a few nights ago, morning croissants warmed through, small roast gammon joint and garlic bread a couple of times so far this holiday. Over remaining week we have planned mini jackets, more garlic bread, aubergine/mozarella/tomato bake and tacos. - I forgot to mention the Chilli I reheated and the vegetable samosas"
I usually bake a cake-mix when away, make a simple thai curry and various meals with sausages, home made burgers and kebas etc.
To me the freezer is key. I prepare a lot of things so that when I am away I can make the most of the excellent fresh fruit and veg along with excellent cheeses and bread, along with fruit flans. I think our favourite meal this year was chicken wrapped in bacon that I coloured up in the saute pan and then poured in a ratatouille I had prepared. We served this with a good bread and followed up with an apricot flan.

Just us then, I guess

We have covered all bases…Remoska….Cadac Safari…..Cobb and Webber BabyQ….one for every type of "unexpected journey" and social function. We met someone a couple of years ago with a deep fat fryer as all they seemed to eat was pie and chips….mind you they also had a WWB..
Remoska ideal for full English. Sausages first till almost cooked…then add bacon till almost cooked ……then add beans until bubbling …then crack eggs on top…decant and admire before consumption.

Good tip. I think I'll give that a go.
If I get a deep fat fryer I could have the fried bread as well.
Colin
You've just reminded me about an Eriba horror story from a few years ago. Friends know of an Eriba owner who used to use a deep fat fryer in the van until they had a fire. After a successful repair they had a further "accident" when they traveled with a gas bottle loose inside the van. I will let you imagine the panel damage that resulted from that one.
