Small complaint about Walker awnings and door bins
in Anything Eriba-related Thu Jul 05, 2018 9:52 amby swa49 (deleted)
There is a stiff (but very warm) breeze blowing across the Matarrana (Aragon) today. With our Walker Touring Plus awning up in sun shade mode, we cannot secure the Eriba door to it's usual clip on the bodywork. Therefore, it is regularly blowing shut, and with the fly screen across the doorway, I'm concerned about the screen getting damaged by the GT spec. door bin, which protrudes into the van.
Some sort of tie back (to the awning pole) is in order

We don't normally have that problem with our 530 as the door will fold back on itself within the awning.
Although the door will still fold back when we use the Isabella Shadow (we secure it with a bit of guy rope cord to the front pull handle), when it's raining and we wish to use the door to screen the rain we secure it in the 90 degree open position by using a Clingon (or similar ) on the roof edge of the sunshade with a tie to the inside of the door handle.

This type of gripper can be bought in most camping outlets.

What's needed is a bit of reverse engineering.
.
P.S. I'd put the bin on eBay if I were you. Those things cost a ruddy fortune new...

We had a similar problem a few years back.
As it happened Mrs SDA had just purchased a pair of throws to cover the upholstery. Theses were packaged in a folded state, using a length of cream ribbon with Velcro on either end. They proved to be the exact size to fit around the awning roof pole and down through the door handle. A rather more elegant looking solution than string, with less chafing risk too.
Sadly we no longer have an Eriba to demonstrate on, but we still have both ribbons, so two Eriba owners can benefit from them.
Maybe I could demonstrate them at the Summer Meet and auction them off, with proceeds to Mr Randa's Christmas Bo............... sorry forum funds

Quote: steamdrivenandy wrote in post #5I must admit that when I suggested a bit of string it was for its practical attributes rather than its aesthetic ones.

And I certainly wasn't suggesting wearing it, though your choice of undergarment is entirely your own.
