SPIDER CRACKING ON FIBRE GLASS ROOF

Hi I have owned my 2000 Pan Duo for a couple of years and am now thinking about improvements and maintenance.
The main problem which I need to sort first is a couple of spider cracks on top of the roof, out of sight but not mind.
Does anybody know the best way to sort this problem please.
Also on one corner there are about 4 stressline cracks that are visible.
Cheers
paul

We have had two on the back roof (behind the poptop) for many years. On the advice of others on here I annually wash, cut with Autoglym and polish the roof with Simoniz wax. I did it the other day and they have have not caused any problems to date.

HI Paul,
Could you post some photos please? I used to work in the boatbuilding industry & might have an idea how to cure them depending on how bad they all are.

Len

I would wait for Len's advice as gelcoat is a funny thing and the underlying structure

Knowing the cause and if they are propagating is also important re frost heave, vibration etc

FYI There is no capillary action if the capillary's are already full of moisture especially if the gelcoat has been penetrated, penetrating sealants can't do their stuff under these conditions

Hi Randa

I have the same issue in the same place. I was planning on washing and polishing next week following my long summer trip...sorry for the very stupid question, but when you say cut with autoglym, what of their many many products do you use. You can tell I usually leave the washing of my car to others!

Thanks

Ralph

Autoglym Super Resin Polish seems to do the trick for me followed by a good polish with Simoniz original wax polish or as Pepe would say anything with Carnauba Wax.

It also makes the Eriba easier to tow as it slices through the air at nearly supersonic speed.

Thats fantastic! I've never been able to get my car without the eriba to anything close to supersonic, so my next trip towing should be very exciting!

Thanks for your help Randa.

Try to stay in control. Too much polish might make the Eriba overtake you. 😄
