Eriba recall
Colin,
Thanks for your comments. I take your point regarding the meter and had also read the typical readings on the internet. When testing at home on other wood/timber samples I selected items with various levels of exposure to the elements and readings varied at levels I would have expected, so at this stage I feel reasonably confident. I find this whole business of the recall very disappointing as I'm a very senior citizen, and this will certainly be our last van. We were influenced by their solid reputation, and weren't expecting this so soon.
I've thoroughly examined the seals on all the windows, and found them to be absolutely fine as far as I can tell. I just wonder if this might not be a nice little earner for Lowdhams with Hymer picking up the tab. Might it save Hymer a lot of money if they authorised affected owners to take their vans to their chosen local approved caravan workshop for a quick check first? After all, they appear to be exactly the same window seals fitted to every caravan.
Finally, I am bemused and disappointed that it takes at least 5 attempts on different days and unanswered phone messages each time I try to get through to Lowdhams service department, so how am I expected to have confidence in them if I actually could get to book my van in?
Bob

If it's an official Hymer recall I should think there'd be no issue getting vans checked by whichever Hymer dealership is nearest. Highbridge are a Hymer dealership, though they choose not to sell Tourings.

Called at Lowdhams yesterday they are ordering parts 6 to8 weeks all window seals to be changed they’ll ring to book us in to have it done once the parts arrive.
Must say we have noticed any water ingress don’t think they even looked the van

Lowdhams have now clarified the situation, for me anyway. I do not need to have the van inspected prior to parts being ordered. I have booked the van in for its yearly service in February but given them a full week with the van. They will service and do the recall work that involves replacing all of the window seals.

Did you find out whether it was a seal fault or an incorrect fitting issue Colin?

I was told my 2018 Eriba wasn’t affected, so Hymer must have a log of a particular batch of eribas requiring mods.
I did ask what the recall issue was - apparently due to a batch of eribas that may have window seals that might be slightly too small in bulb depth.
It’s no doubt very inconvenient to those involved, but it is good to know Hymer are taking this seriously and rectifying an issue that has come to light.

Your comment on depth being small is significant. Whilst my van has shown no signs of water ingress that I am aware of, one of the front windows has rubbed the paint on the outside, indicating that the rubber trim may not be deep enough.

I have now heard from Highbridge Caravans and they say that although they are Hymer agents, they do not deal in Eribas, and anyway, their workshop is fully booked through to December!
From information gleaned through various caravanners, I would not be too happy leaving my van at Lowdhams for a week, and hoping to be sure it will be ready as agreed. I stress that I'm not speaking from personal experience, but I certainly would need to be desperate!

We have left our van a Lowdhams Huddersfield for the week without any problem and will have to do again when we have seals changed as we both still work it the only we can do it with any luck we may be able to combine it with the annual service
Just had a recall letter from Adventure Leisure for my 2017 Triton 430
They want it for a full day as the seals on all the windows are to be replaced.
Going to do the annual service at the same time.
Re Eriba recall.
We also had a letter from Lowdham. When I contacted them they did not know which Eribas needed the recall so I contacted Hymer in Germany directly. They got back to me saying that my 2018 Triton was not included. It was only certain chassis numbers.
Lowdhams nottingham told me hymer had some issues with some window seals not all but they have told suppliers to change all seals on the caravans affected so a perfectly dry caravan is going to have perfectly good seals taken out that don't require it that is just ridiculous.
