Matilda needs to pull...

Hi Everyone

To introduce myself I need to introduce Matilda, my 1970 Morris Minor Traveller first.

I have been her guardian for about 5 years now and every year I take her up to Pateley Bridge to an independent Morris Minor show I help run. She has pulled a 500kg trailer tent, done the trip packed full to the roof and this year towing a camping trailer full of tent etc. It is time I looked for something a little easier on my bad back to sleep in and the natural choice is a Puck classic.

I have been looking at other options but nothing seems to fit the bill...

So over the next few months I'll be investigating my options and hopefully trying get to look around one in person which could be a eye opener (I'm called Big Al for a reason).

I'll have a lot of newbie questions but I'll admit I have found the forum useful already, especially looking at some of the great photographs.

Hi Big Al and thanks for introducing Matilda. One of the last of a fabulous marque. We used to own a 1957 Traveller but we couldn't keep pace with her deterioration.

We get quite a lot of classic Pucks through our facebook pages so I'll keep an eye open for you. A warning though, they are not cheap.

Thank you.

Matilda wasn't/isn't cheap, definitely high maintenance but I have a good network of Morris Minor fans supporting me. I've seen the current crop of Puck 120s on offer so going into this with my eyes open. What I haven't managed to do yet is see one in the flesh. I have friends who have larger versions but not Pucks. I can't/wouldn't tow anything else with Matilda.

I'll see if I can find your FaceBook page.

Al, to Eribafolk

Now your Traveller brings back many happy memories. We had one way back in the 1960's. Wish we still had it. I doubt you will have to wait too long before you find your classic Puck.

Thanks for the welcome PooleDweller, we all regret some of the cars we moved on. I once had a 1966 VW splitty and an L reg T2. Getting just £60 from the insurance company for the splitty when it was written off makes me cringe these days!

Wow, that was quick. I'm sure folk would like to see a few pictures when you have them.

Hello Al and to Eribafolk.

First car I drove was my dad's 1958 Traveller. Great memories.

Welcome. What a lovely car. I had a Morris 1000 van in the 70's - I love the distinctive sound of the Morris engine :-)
