Just had a quick look at the Binic site, I,m guessing it is this one https://www.campingfrance.com/uk/find-yo...-les-fauvettes2 Whilst it does look very nice the rates seem high for a municipal at Euro 29.75. Then again I have been accused of having short arms and long pockets.

I think I only paid €18(?) when I was there a couple of weeks ago...

That's a more comfortable price.

To be fair, Colin, it was the 'medium' season rate...

Calder has provoked an interesting debate and I just love the measured contributions from this very decent forum. They are a real pleasure to read. Calder's submissions are largely unsupported by hard evidence and thus amount to little more than conjecture. But, the same criticism will apply to my own contribution. I have three observations :

1 A few years back I bought a narrow boat and lived on it full time for 18 months or so. At the start of my journey the canals were relatively congestion free but by the end the story was very different. A large number of real top end vessels were joining the network funded by pension payouts . Marble and granite work tops , TV's in every room and even Jacuzzis baths . A very far cry from the original vessels which were designed to carry and convey cargo at speed. The price of these things was often North of £120,000. I have an enduring memory of the last time I spoke to an owner of such a vessel and she was complaining that her boat was too narrow! I gather that many of these boats are now for sale and the common exit root is to invest the proceeds in a motor home.

2. I believe that there is a bit of a mass migration at this time of the year when large motor homes head for the warmth and cheap living in South Spain and Portugal. It certainly felt that way last year when I was traveling back from Portugal to The UK.

3. I think the market for both caravans and motor homes is buoyant at present which is not surprising considering the high cost of hotels and B& B's

Well, that is certainly true, Islay, Binic is a glorious little site. I still think you should organise an Eribafolk weekend there. I'd come! For me, the classic French Municipal is still the perfect campsite...

Well that could be interesting!
