I think the origin of obscuring plates was that selling locally a car that had towed was Knackered,
so hiding the numberplate gave a better chance of a sale

I'm more than happy for folks to add their plates on any world wide forum, it was just an answer to your question, however I will always blank mine.

I can't see the point personally. Pics of my cars are all over the net and they regularly appear in MiniWorld magazine, so it would be a bit late to try to disguise them!
