The C in the 102/100 load rating is the clue into the increased pressure. It stands for commercial. These tyres are designed to run at higher pressures.

OK but as a result of Hymer's renewed tyre pressure charts we were advised to run the tyres on our older Troll at 44 psi yet the new tyres that A L fitted were only rated at 36psi and I wouldn't want anyone with an older van putting these revised pressures in their tyres without checking first.

Thanks but I’ve checked this and they show max psi 65 (185 R14 102 C)

Believe it or not, it is usually marked only on the inside wall of British tyres. Very helpful indeed. That's why I only noticed it when I replaced the AL fitted tyres so I always insist on being given the information before I go ahead and purchase new ones.

Like a lot of folk,I,ve always ran tyres at 35psi on my 2003 triton(1000kg).This thread prompted me to look more closely at the tyre specs and, using the proper formula, the correct pressure is 46psi cold.Good work eribafolk.
Well that's all confusing ...
Using the Tyre pressure calculator ( https://www.tyresafe.org/check-your-pres...ure-calculator/ ) and with 185R14C 102/100R tyres on my Eriba 420 and a max load weight of 1300kg I get a reading of 53psi. but with this calculator (https://the-trudgians.com/tyre-pressure-calculator/) I get 33psi.
🙄
What to do ???
Oops - typo inputting details on the second calculator should be 53psi on both calculator sites.
Everyone agree ?

I get 50 psi or 3.48 bar on your second link. That ties in with the 48psi or 3.3 bar I ran my 1200kg Triton at.

According to Hymer's uprated tyre chart, my Triton's 13" tyres (on alloy wheels) - 185/70R13 - should be max 2.85 bar (41.3psi) with a 950kg load, whilst the tyres themselves (TrailRunner WR301 "C" rated - fitted last year) it says max load 950kg at 87psi... Do I assume the Hymer pressure is correct? Or do I need to adjust the pressure up because the fitted tyres are C versions?

The max pressure on the tyre itself is the safety limit and not the recommended pressure.
Take a look at this pressure calculator online

That website calculator gives me the figure of 46psi (3.2bar), whilst Hymer recommend 41.3psi for that size of tyre. I was just commenting because the official Hymer pressure sheet gives a figure for 13" 185 width tyres as 1 bar (14.5psi) lower pressure than 14" 185 section tyres... And does the fact it's a C (Cargo) rated tyre mean it's got a stiffer sidewall and therefore needs a higher pressure? It looks fine when pumped up to 35psi to be honest, so appearance can't be the judge.
My Volvo runs on tyres at a Volvo-recommended 38psi "eco" pressure, whilst many say they run theirs at a much lower pressure. It certainly improves the fuel economy and I have had no problem over the last three years running at that (relatively) high pressure...
