Well, having had a message back from my gas fitter, I thought I might as well cut another hole in my Puck.
This time it is for a bullfinch external gas point.
This is that moment when you hope you are in the right place.

This is without the gas point attached. I also found that you could remove the lid to make things easier.

This is only fitted temporarily until the gas is connected. Then it will have silicon added to the back.

This is with the gas connector attached.

And this is what it will look like when it's finished.

I don't think that I have used a magnet so much since my schooldays !
Quite a simple job, once all decisions have been made !

Quote: mr_underhill wrote in post #5For what it's worth, I'd use a purpose-made non-setting sealant rather than silicone anyway.
It does have a gasket, but as it's on the dimpled bit, I was going to do belt and braces !
I can see how it goes and always use sealant later.
I reckon the only good use for silicone is round the edge of the bath at home. It's a pain in the arse otherwise, not least because it's a pig to remove when it's cured, and especially from a surface which isn't smooth.

Sorry, I automatically used the word silicone ! I meant caravan type Sikaflex as recommended by members of this forum.
