Zitat
They are self adhesive. 3M tape I believe.
Hmm, so how effective is that on the dimpled surface I wonder?

I got a sample of one to try on my dimpled finish 2017 van. I do not believe the bond will be good enough and they could damage the thinner/weaker skin of our non smooth skinned vans. As such I decided not to get a tow cover.

Hi Keith just back from Southport and I can confirm the towing cover performed brilliantly.
The 'male' press-stud caps are as Stewart says says self-adhesive.
I must admit we put four white cap types on as supplied by Pro-Tec and then modified the cover to take a further press-stud fastening at the base of the cover on each side to take a slight 'baggyness' out.
Pro-Tec did advise that they thought that the white (more rigid) caps seemed to bond more strongly than the clear type that we have tried on the extra studs and comparing the two types I would agree.
Saying that though we've had no trouble at all with either but as it's only two trips we'll see.
Best regards
Tom

Good afternoon
We have a 2006 Triton and I enquired recently about a towing cover. Protec replied today saying that their Eriba Triton towing covers only fitted from 2010 onward.
This was obviously very disappointing but I thought that the 2006 v 2010 Triton size differences were quite small? I'm wondering If went ahead and bought one, wouldn't it do the job?? Has anyone done this (or found another source?)
Also, thinking about my long tow to the Dordorgne next week, has anyone found a really effective spray for removing sun baked squat flies??
Thanks

This company will make one, but at a price, circa £300, but very good quality

Bob,
on our previous smooth finish vans the front got a good car polish/waxing before departure, including the front of the roof and pop-top. Our current dimpled van gets a coating of Bobby Dazzler after its pre journey wash. I carry a bottle of concentrated car wash for the car and if need be can use this to remove the dead flies but have seldom needed to.
This year we did just under 2,500 miles from Merseyside to Rouen, Isle de Re, Dordogne, Cognac, Loire and then back home. I wiped the dead flies off twice with a damped cloth whilst away without any problem.

If you have Fenwicks Caravan Cleaner I make up a litre spray bottle of 10:1 solution and spray on the offending mush, leave for 10 mins then wash off with wet sponge. Good for black streaks as well. Autoglym bug remover is also good Mrs Nut uses it on her Moggie !

Thanks for the advice, i'll continue to polish but I have also made up a strong Simoniz car shampoo spray solution to use in between washes!

Good morning from sunny Dordogne
To tip Colin!
Gave the van a good polish with Autoglym Super Resin polish (2 polishes at the front end) and loaded a spray with strong solution of Simoniz shampoo.
All squat bugs/blood coming off a treat!
Thanks

Hi, after reading the positives about a Protec towing cover I'm thinking of seeing what Protec are quoting at the NEC show this month. They're expensive at £250 + . I'm sure I've read a string about getting the clear self adhesive poppers somewhere but can't find it as I have a GT and wouldn't want white. Does anyone have the link to getting clear? I think it was Amazon?

Apparently the clear studs are not as strong as the white version. I have to say that I don't notice them now.
