The brass washer underneath the 'nut' that winds the steady up/down has disintegrated into 2 bits.
It does not look as thought it's a serviceable part as the whole shaft is welded together (no split pine etc, just substancial welds)

Any body had similar issue and worked out a fix?

I'm guessing the brass washer is essential to stop the 'nut' biting into the steady frame?
