Hi to all Eriba Folk
Having tried this caravanning lark for a few years with an old Abbey van my wife and I are fancying a Triton T30 but haven't found the right one yet. It seems that to find one with gas hot water system is like gold dust but having got used to showers in our existing van it would seem a backward step to go to a cold water only caravan. Has anyone any experience of upgrading a Triton to hot water? What are the pros and cons? Would appreciate the experience of anyone who has been there rather than making expensive mistakes.

Hi Wayne and welcome to Eribafolk.
I've no experience of fitting a hot water system to an Eriba but there are a few threads on the subject including this one:- Water heating (see search engine for more)
However I think it's fair to say that no many, if any, would consider showering in an Eriba. The space is too confined.

Plus certainly on older Eribas the cubicle is smaller than the current models and are not waterproof.

Thanks, I can see that it would be a bit of a squeeze. It's not that we would use it all the time but when on a CL with no shower block it would certainly be handy to have a shower in the van. I guess I have become too used to having the shower facility in my current van (although that is also a bit tight to be fair).

Some have managed to shower in an Eriba, but not me, and I'm only 5'8" tall.
Hot water is however a must have for us. I spec'd this on our 2nd and 4th [current] van and converted our 3rd van to it.
The conversion, I'd advise the Propex electric heater as opposed to the Truma can be done for about £600/700 including an onboard 30/35L water tank.

I'm 5'2 and would have trouble having a shower in our Triton. But, some would manage. It would be very hard to make one waterproof in a van of our age....1998.
