Truma gas heater

hi. I collected my new Troll 530 from Tebay in February. I've been away in it four times and each time was able to hook up to mains electricity.
On this trip I'm going 'wild'. I lit the gas fire by turning the dial and pressing down on it. It worked fine for the first five days whenever it was needed.
On the sixth day there was an almighty wind and although it would light it wouldn't stay lit for more than short bursts. I rang Tebay and was told that It was most likely the wind and to protect the the burner which is just behind the wheel in some way. Has any one else had this problem and discovered a reliable work around? thanks in advance for your helpful responses. Jim

Did you have the flu extension on?

Yes. If there is a strong wind blowing in the wrong direction this can cause the gas fire to malfunction even if the flue extension is on. Nothing to worry about.

I didn't have anything to stand on so couldn't reach the flue. wondering if a windbreak would be the answer?

Not sure how a wind break would work stopping wind blowing down the flue ?

I think your issue will go away if you use the flue extension in the recommended way.

I think a milk crate would be of more use.

Piggots,
we have since owing an Eriba back in 2003 carried a couple of IKEA stools. These do a fine job as a side table, stool for occasional guests and standing on to get bird crap off the roof/feed awning through/ etc. Unfortunately they don't do our exact model anymore but this is the replacement which at £4 is a bargain https://www.ikea.com/gb/en/p/marius-stool-white-90184047/

Colin

ps I've also got a cheap step I sometimes carry, a Blue Diamond https://www.leisureoutlet.com/steps/step...le-caravan-step and not a posh one like him below.

We have a free standing step like this http://www.milenco.com/products/steps/al...nal-single-step useful for entering exiting the Eriba, using to stand on when erecting the awning and reaching the flue cap and attaching extension tubes.

Two chimney extensions will cure the gas fire blowing out, you need to get the cowel above the poptop, it's the wind buffeting against the canvas which causes the gas fire to blow out. I had the same problem with my Familia, you can see in the picture the pipe just peeping above the top roof.
