Just wondered if any one has had a problem with the seats that you put out to sleep on. I took delivery of my eriba 320 the other week and just come back from out first trip out, 3 night in the lakes. one of the cushions on the edges seems to have something like a collapsed spring on the edge. The caravan seems more or less like new on most of things & ours is a 2015 model. neither me or my other half is jumping round or over weight. has any one else had a problem with them and how did they resolve it. I feel like having a word with the main dealer i bought it off. A lot of money & only 3 nights!!

Ours [an 05 troll] had a spring mattress, it was the first thing I got rid of, replaced it with 5" reflex foam, + I didn't like the idea of sleeping on a second hand mattress.

Hi Dave
I here what your saying but at what this cost & most of the van seems like new, (2015) don't what the previous owner did but it hardly looks like its been used. chopping block never been used, shower curtain still in bag, tyres, no visible signs of wear. I not would expect an edge of a seat to collapse/dip down after 3 nights away. i purchased off a main dealer.
I wonder if most people use a fitted sheet & duvet in a model like this or sleeping bags?

The springs in the Eriba GT upholstery were basic old fashioned coil type which will collapse under pressure at the edges. They normally revert to shape when the pressure is removed. Occasionally they fail and you have a permanently collapsed/misshapen edge. Personally I thought they were very poor and to pay extra for them was a nonsense. I replaced mine with reflex foam from a company in Taunton who made to measure. The difference was amazing. This is the reason why you can hardly buy a coil sprung mattress any more and if you can it will be dirt cheap and uncomfortable. I used to sell them in the distant past and did my level best to tell the customer they were buying rubbish in more politic terminology.

I wonder how many people have had this problem (after 3 nights) and how many Eribas come with spring seats from the factory & how many have foam seats/beds. Are the foam ones any better to sleep on, eg not feel the joins

My 2012 Familia had a similar problem, after the 2nd year the front edge appeared to have collapsed, under the two year fixtures warranty my dealer Lowdhams put in for a claim. Hymer agreed for me to take the seat to an upholsterer to get it fixed and they would reimburse me.

However i decided to fix it myself, the cover unzips, what you will find is the foam edge has come unstuck, I used some carpet spray adhesive and masking tape to keep it together. I left it overnight and the next day it was fixed. My 2015 Familia after 4 years is just starting to do the same, its not a big job so I am not that fazed about it, plus its out of fixtures warranty anyway..

The spring seats in the GT were advertised as an upgrade from the foam bases.

When I go on holiday I like to pop my top!
