MATTI battery charger

We have just bought our first caravan, a lovely Troll 530GT, vintage 2007.
Unfortunately, it is fitted with a MATTI battery charger and I can find no reference to it via Google. Maybe they have gone out of business in the last 7 years, or maybe it was a French model.
Anyway, if anyone has one of these on their 'van, perhaps they can tell me something about the red and green led behaviour.
Nice to find the forum and hope to come visiting often.

Hi SeptimusFry. Welcome to Eribafolk. Sorry, but a Matti battery charger means nothing to me and many of our members are away this weekend but may be able to help later today or tomorrow.
I notice your IP address puts you in France. Therefore are you residing in France or are you just visiting? Also did you buy your Troll in France?
The reason I ask is because if you think it might be a French bit of equipment then you may get more luck with this particular question by asking our friends on the French forum www.forumeribatouring.com
I'm sure they'll be able to help you.
You might also like to Email Jandi http://www.eribacaravans.co.uk/ where Jean and Sandy will prove to be most helpful.
Sorry I can't be of more help.

Hi Randa,
Yes, I live in Brittany. My 'van was imported from UK, first owner (2007) bought in Holland, made in France !! I now have the problem of getting a carte grise and do not have the necessary Certificate d'origine, so the coming days/weeks should be fun, but not on the road.
I will try on the French eriba site, thanks. My French is not what it could be, however. All is a struggle. But I keep on trying. I will also try JandI.
Thanks.
PS. My wife was born in Barry, just down the road from you, I guess. Her family on her mother's side came from Neath. Loads of them scattered about that region.
I avoid it like the plague

So do we. That's why we spend so much time abroad.
The French forum does have a translation service on there and my French is particularly bad so if I'm able to correspond on there it should be easy for you.
Ah, if your van was originally Dutch then like ours which is somewhat older than yours, the chances are that it came without an electrics pack and was probably fitted out with one when it was first imported into GB.
Our electrics are nothing like the ones fitted as standard into Eribas but we've had it on good authority that they are caravan approved. Therefore, Jandi may well be the best place to go but when you Email them (don't recommend you phone from France as they like to talk and it will cost you a fortune ) give them the necessary information from your VIN plate for them to work from.

Do you have any further information on your charger?
A photo of the specification plate would be useful if
you can manage it. (in fact it is always useful to have
as many photos as possible)

Try Googling 'batterilader matti'. It'll take you to Scandinavian websites which sell Matti chargers. If you use Google translate you may be able to find a link to a manufacturer website or a PDF of operating instructions.
Good luck.

What a kind forum this is.
I have managed to find the company behind the charger and have fired off an email in the hope that they will come back with some sort of user info, or even a user manual - though there isn't much to a battery charger after all. It is just that the charging light - red - flashes at the same time as the ready light - green. It is located in such a difficult to access area that I could hardly make out the manufacturer and the words 'charge' and 'ready'.
For anyone chancing on this thread after the same MATTI charger, the manufacturer is Ellego Powertec in Finland. Located here.http://www.ellego.fi/en/

By the Way...
You can wish me luck for Friday.
I am going to take the 7-hour mandatory training for the B96 driving license endorsement. I will then be qualified to drag a 3500-4250kg train. I had no idea when I bought the 'van that it would require this faffing about - but BMW+Troll = 3535kg, and the French would insist on the B96 even if the train weight was 3501kg.
One of those things the UK has opted out of.

Woke up this morning and checked my mail - lo and behold, copy of user manual had been sent from the Finnish manufacturer at 04:54 GMT, not sure what time it was in Finland ! What a great attitude, I am not likely to be a new customer, after all, but someone spent a few minutes first thing in his morning to find this 7-yr old info. Yippee.
So, if anyone else ever finds this thread, looking for info on the MATTI charger, just send a PM to me.
