Troll Rear window

My 2007 Troll rear window has developed a crack from the inside top corners. I have several quotes for a replacement ranging from expensive to downright silly.
My question is - Is this an easy job to replace or should I entrust it to a dealership?

Dave,
you could stop it from spreading by drilling a 4mm hole at the end of the crack. I'd imagine you could also send it off to have the inner "pane" removed and a new fitted, cheaper than a full new window I'd have thought., but the hole would be my first choice intilially.

As a lot of caravan windows are universal, you might be able to find a used replacement here:- https://www.caravanbreakers.net/index.php/10/
Mr Calder found them very helpful last year although there was a tint issue.

The hole drilling was the first thing I thought of, unfortunately it is too late for that (see pics).
Has anyone had dealings with Exhaust Ejector Co, eeco-ltd.co.uk ?

Hi Dave, yes I've pointed a few of my broken-window customers in the direction of EECo, with positive outcomes.

The advantage of having the window remade as opposed to buying new, apart from price, is EECo will match the tint of the acrylic as opposed to supplying the original which will have changed over time.
I don't suppose this is too important to your rear window as it sits on its own, but If it were a front window you'd see a big difference between the old and the new 'glass'.

The disadvantage is that I don't think the remades will have the spotty border shading, although I believe there are certain advantages to be had in sporting a spotless rear.

To remove the window, unclip the side stays at the window end (there's a small hole in the bracket - poke a paper clip in there and the stay will slide off).

Lifting the window to above the horizontal will allow it to be released from the hinge bar.

Just had a reply from eeco. Unfortunately they cannot help.

Hymer can no longer produce a window for this model.

Did EECo say why they can't help?

These chaps manufacture polyplastic caravan windows too - they're in Queensferry (the N Wales one) not far from me.

I believe they produce military aircraft cockpit canopies so they might give you the option of a gun-sight reticle engraved on it.

Good luck

I thought apart from maybe a color difference the current vans had the same size/fit window as the 2005 and later GT's

This thread may be of interest: Oh Bugger!

The damage to my window is clearly external. If it was internal like yours, I think I'd be tempted to fill the crack with clear nail varnish and live with it.

It is looking more and more likely I am going to have to go down this route.

Eeco replied saying they could not help with a replacement, under a banner headline citing the worldwide shortage of acrylic. I asked if a repair was possible but I'm still waiting for a reply.
So, another victim of coronavirus?

New window supplied and fitted by CaravanCrazy (Morval) of Hartlebury nr Kidderminster. 7 days from order to delivery and I opted to take the van to them for fitting. Expensive but still cheaper than the quote from our friends in the south.
