What a brilliant forum! I’ve recently bought my 1994 Familia 310 after being desperate to join the Eriba family for years and whilst she’s in generally good condition I want to spend a bit of love and care on getting her looking the bees Knees. I’m going to start small by getting her faded Eriba Touring Badges back to their original glory, but would appreciate some advice on the best paint to use. I figured spray paint would give the even look, but would be fiddly because of the 3D nature of the badge and having to tape it off might be a nightmare? Anyway all advice welcome here. Thank you

Jill I don't think there is a correct answer, it's down to what you are most confident with. If it was me I think after stripping the old paint off I would brush finish something like Humbro Enamel as it is, or at least used to be available in a good range of colours. A smooth Hammerite paint should also work but colours are limited and it is difficult to get a high quality finish as the coats have to be applied within a certain time frame.
The other option would be to remove the badge and strip/sand blast it back to the base aluminium. For a cool retro look you could leave this matt finish [my choice] or polish it prior to applying a spray lacquer to stop it oxidizing.

Hi Jill and welcome to Eribafolk.
I'm not sure when Hymer/Eriba stopped fitting these badges but our 99 Eriba and others of around the same age don't have them. Therefore it's good to try and keep it original and spend some time in restoring it.
However, if all else fails there is a guy on Facebook who is producing and selling replica badges.made from aluminium.

I should have said, it’s the long plastic side badge that says Eriba Touring, both have really faded

Hi Colin,
I’ve just had a look at the humbrol paint and that certainty look lay like it would do the job! Please forgive me for the daft silly question, what would you use to remove the old paint?

I thought you meant the round badge and not the long side ones as in Randa's photo. I have not been up close to one of these so not really sure how you would best tackle it. Can you do a close up photo?

We scrubbed ours and then used humbrol paint on a mini foam roller. It looks great! We are just waiting for the clear lacquer. I'll maybe post some photos when it stops raining

Nice job. We did our side badges with Plastikote fast drying enamel paint, and an artist's brush. No lacquer required. Like your roller idea better than my fiddly approach.
