Conclusion to two previous threads about Jockey wheel replacement

Recently I put up a thread about my jockey wheel buckling and then a question about a Kartt replacement Jockey wheel.
Well I bit the bullet and tonight switched my original Alko J wheel with a Kartt Turn Lok replacement.
I am grateful to Aaron for sending me a link to a previous post on how to do this. I also checked out Kartts own video instructions and some reviews on YouTube. It is sold by the C & M Club who apparently helped to develop it for about £70 but I managed to source one on EBay from Wilmond Engineering for £40 - about £10 dearer than a straight Alko replacement of my original. It does appear to be more substantial and a bit heavier. It has an orange coloured steel wheel which I guess you either love or hate.
It took about 30 minutes to do but I was faffing around a lot as I didn't want to do it wrong. I am pleased with the result but will test it on a hardstanding when we go away next week. I will give some feedback on how well it performed.
I will try to attach some photos

Oops only 2 of 3 turned out

Exact same one (also from Wilmond eng) arrived today. Can't believe I'm saying this, but I love it. Feel like an Alko traitor though. Good job Mike.

Can I ask what makes a Kartt jocket wheel so good?
I doubt there is anything particularly special about these jockey wheels other than the turn loc system. There are good reports as to there manoeuvrability on gravel and uneven surfaces compared to other jockey wheels. But then again that's just the wheel itself. It definitely seems more robust than my old Alko though. In the end, I got it because I couldn't source a like for like Alko - in terms of length that is.

Hi quick update on use of our new Kartt Jockey wheel in action.
We used this at the West Ayton site this week and I was well-impressed with its manoeuvrability on the hardstanding. These were a mix of large, small and very small stones and the way it responded to the motor mover was better than the Alko has ever been. I guess this is down to the rigidity of the wheel and the tread in the tyre itself.
For me a good £40 investment, although still not over taken with the orange paint job......................

So here's our Kartt just fitted. Definitely more manoeuvrability than the old Alko. We both like it :)
