Essentials and Non essentials list

I posted this in the Facebook thread and thought it would be nice to get feedback from you forum folk too.
We just finished our 3 week summer holiday European tour. I have made a list of what we need/don't need for future trips:
Things we absolutely need:
1. Mover
2. Carpet for gazebo (bugs in the grass also bite me!)
3. Tv/Screen/Projector - the ipads are too small for shared viewing
4. Door mat
5. Additional USB charging points
6. Shelf on side of wardrobe for usb charging devices
7. Ideally a smaller table that can be folded out to the current size - I’m investigating making a drop leaf table
8. washing line
9. Some kind of coat storage for colder weather trips - maybe outside under the canopy somewhere
10. Dust buster with a long thin nose attachment. The broom and the dustpan just can’t get into those tiny nooks and crannies of the Eriba. Between the bed and the bathroom, inside the mosquito door runner, etc.
11. Covers for the internal chair cushions. Dog gets soooo muddy on a damp dewy morning
12. Jigsaw puzzle board that will fit the caravan table for rainy days
Things we have but don’t need:
* Too many cooking utensils - do we really need 3 corkscrews and 2 pizza cutters in the caravan? 😂
* Too many cooking pans. Just need the wok, frying pan and a saucepan
* Drying rack for washing up. We found that teamwork and a microfiber cloth on the pop-up shelf is more than enough
* Camping chair cushions. The chairs are comfy enough on their own
Things we have that we use way more than we’d thought:
* Bathroom. We didn’t think we’d use it but it’s brilliant, especially as they charge you for the loo at the motorway services over on this side of the channel!
* Hot water - for washing up and for sites with busy facilities
* Heater. It was super cold in the mornings in the Swiss alps.
* Toaster. I wasn’t sure to pack it, but it fits perfectly in the overhead lockers, and is great for egg on toast on a cold morning
* Cadac - other half insisted that we needed it. It’s lovely for doing anything on the hob, as well as for BBQ and pizza with the pizza stone
* Thule omnistor sun canopy - perfect for sunny and rainy weather! Just remember to drop a leg to prevent water capture
* The gazebo tent was a life saver to prevent most of the bugs. With a carpet, it will be perfect
* Camping chair hook on (hanging) storage thingy. Perfect for holding the phone, iPad and a cold can on a hot day, and keeps everything out of direct sunlight
* Other half is extremely happy with his mini nespresso machine. I bought him some enamel espresso mugs for it, which he also loves, and makes it look at least somewhat rustic 😂
Things we haven’t decided on yet:
* We bought a wind break. It’s annoying to erect, but does add some privacy on busy sites. Other half hates the pegs tho, and in most places it’s too rocky for me to do it
* Washing up bowl for campsite facilities. We have it, but I only used it on the last day after we’d packed everything up. Handy for storing the loo liquids in transit though
* Replacing the plug in fairy lights with solar powered ones. I’m thinking it’s a good idea, but not found ones I like yet.
Things we have but haven’t had chance to use yet:
* Portable solar panels for off grid
* Whistling kettle for off grid ( we have a plug in one for ehu)
Overall, our planning went very well. Not too many things to leave behind next time.

On the subject of door mats I picked up this idea from a lovely French Puck owner. Use bath mats, we dyed ours navy, they dry quite quickly and at the end of every trip in the washing machine, good as new, back in the van for next time.
3 corkscrews may be excessive, 2 could be useful in case you lose one 😂

The best flooring we have come across is Friedola. This is fairly readily available off the roll, about 65cm wide and cut to your required length in French DIY/home store type shops.
It looks like a ribbed rubber non-slip mat with holes through it. Some UK caravan shops do stock it in a range of hideous patterns.
It is warm underfoot for those pre and post summer trips and due to the holes any bits you bring inunderfoot drop straight through. We roll ours up, give it a shake clean and usa dustpan and brush to clean up what has fallen through the holes.

A small must have for me is a lot of micro cloths. First use to dry the washing up, then on to wipe up then clean.
We also use bath mats. I have lovely red ones from IKEA.

We agree with that absolute must have for washing up
