Replacement Window catches (70s Familia) - help please
in Improving your pride and joy and how to fix things Mon Oct 12, 2020 12:20 pmby Felini (deleted)

Hi,
I have recently taken ownership of a Familia, not sure of the date but judging on the decor it’s mid late 70s.
The window catches are a red plastic ball which screws to secure. One of them is still working but on the side window an imperfect replacement piece has recently broken.
I still have the red ball screw and bolt and would prefer to retain by replacing the original white plastic attachment (see pic of working window).
Any ideas for replacement or if I cant replace a suitable alternative?
Thanks.

Hi Felini and welcome to Eribafolk
I don't think I've ever seen window catches/locks with a red ball before.
Perhaps your best bet would be to contact these guys:- https://www.caravanbreakers.net/ Send them the photos too.
They've been quite useful in the past.

It is possible they did. We don't get much opportunity to see inside all the classic Eribas but we see many photos.
Eriba are notorious for swapping over part numbers and you rarely see two pre 2010 Eribas that are exactly the same

The red ball looks similar to those often found on machinery handles and used to have either a 1/4" or 3/8" threaded hole.

I've just re-read your post and it's the white bit you are after. How about a small white rubber door stop or white rubber foof from a piece of furniture. You could pass the bolt through this and it would screw into the ball.
I'm guessing a bit as the photo and detail it shows is not great.

Thanks Colin - yes it’s really the white bit I’m after.
Skirt the pics are small but That’s a great idea on the rubber door stop. I shall take a look down the local DIY store for done thing appropriate.
Thanks again.
