My caravan appears to have what i would class as "lash" in the lock. when you turn the key it appears as if 50% + of the rotation of the key doesn't do anything. you have to turn right to the end of the rotation to unlock the door & I'm concerned that one day its not going to work. Has anyone else had this problem & come across a fix. My caravan is booked in at main dealers for its service & damp check tomorrow and i have mentioned this & wondering what they will say!
I have to add that the caravan is like new (2015) condition wise & just this niggle!

My lock is also crap. I've tried adjusting the catch plate but this was no good. I then popped the screw cap covers on the inside and tightened it up but this made it worse. I've now loosened them a little to the state where you can actually flex/twist the internal lock assembly slightly and the assembly works better.
I also find the suction on the door seals makes opening the door difficult at times. I thought this might have been due to the door dropping[as they usually do] and putting more pressure on the bottom door seals. I lifted the door of the pin hinges and have put a red fibrous washer on both pins. This has had little effect, but does make the door line up visually a little better. The key location/entry is also nothing to write home about.

Good German quality !! internal door hinges that corrode, screws that hold them in the cupboard doors coming out/loose, external doors that drop, locks that have problems. I do like my eriba but its a shame they cant make better quality for the price!

Our door isn't great either.........

We had a broken door hinge which Hymer replaced under warranty.

Our door also seems a little twisted from top to bottom. We have ALV play with it twice for us. .It has started to go again and I have to give it a fair pull from the inside to engage the mechanism fully.

We also think that someone may have had a go at getting into the van using something like a screwdriver on the lock itself. However it still works OK to open & lock.

I was wondering at some stage whether to look into an additional security lock on the door but decided that those I could see looked a bit clumsy

I was only saying to my wife, how the door lock on our Troll feels so much better than our Lunar Lexon. It feels so solid when you lock it and turn the key. There is also has a Fiamma security lock fitted which is so easy to use.

My problem was that the door wasn't closing tightly onto the rubber seal when latched and here's how I rectified it: Striker plate modification
