Our first caravan

Hi there,
After having campervans for several years we decided to switch to a caravan (our other campervan friends believe we have joined the dark side). The main reason for the change was that we do a lot of hill-walking and it becomes a real pain-in-the-bum to have to pack up each time if the vehicle is needed to get to the walk, whereas the caravan gives us a "basecamp".
Anyway, which I assume is of more interest here, we decided on an Eriba 530 Rockabilly. Collected it on Monday and have spent the last five days using it. We have been inside it more than we thought as the weather has been awful. Managed some dry walking, but mainly lots of wet walking. Easier to dry the gear in the caravan though! Really enjoying it, much more space and comfort :-)
Here's hoping for many years of Eriba adventures. Glad to be part of the forum.

Hi Karl & Martine
Welcome to the Forum, I'm certain that you will have great fun in your 530 with its special colouring.
We have friends with campervans and motorhomes and have constant banter about the merits of each. in particular some friends have spent the last year since their retirement on looking at the pros & cons of each as they move from tenting. They have eventually decided to get a VW Van converted into a camper van that should be ready sometime Spring or early summer.
This has led to K & I taking photos for them of VW campervans & their awning arrangements, and talking to owners about their advice to new owners whilst we have been in our Troll at West Ayton & then Angelsey.
We love VW campervans but came to the conclusion 5 years ago that an Eriba with a canopy or awning was a better solution for us. The factor for me was the extra space in the well-designed Eribas but for Kath it has always been the point that you make of having to take nearly everything with you in the campervan whenever you go out anywhere other than walking from the site, even if you have a drive away awning
However I don't think that Eriba owners and VW campervan owners are that different a species - both have classy outfits. I know Eriba owners will welcome you with open arms when they see you on site.
Enjoy your travels.

Thanks MikeT.
Yes, just all friendly banter :-) We did wonder whether the best option was to tow with a campervan!!!
We are looking forward to meeting other Eriba owners.

That's what we ended up doing, both have their place, so if we're just on an overnighter with the mountain bikes or kayaks the the T5 is perfect on its own, any longer and the Eriba comes with us.
