Hi All

Just hopefully a quick question but am i right in thinking that a 2006 Puck 12v system only works when the cars 13pin towing electric is connected? Even though it has a lesiure battery installed.

Mnay thanks
G

Looks like the end of lock down is in sight and caravaning will soon commence!

No , my 2005 Puck 12v works off the battery without the car. The 13 pin runs the fridge, not sure what else when it's connected. Maybe it charges the battery. Sorry but that's the limit of my knowledge.

Usually, but could vary on earlier vans. when attached to the car and the engine is [usually] running, the 12v from the car will run internal lights and pump for the sink, along with fridge and charge battery if your car is wired for this. When on site the 12v should run the internal lights and the sink. It will not power the fridge as it would drain the battery after about 1/2 a day. Also your exterior/awning light should not work when the van is attached to the car.

Hi G,
In my experience of Pucks, when I had my 2008 120 GT the 12V system would run the lights and water pump regardless of being hooked up to the vehicle or not. Don’t know if it helps but it may just be something on the trip or board by the battery housing. Incidentally, have you came to a decision bout a price for the Puck L? I would be interested to see more photos and perhaps take a look when permitted?

I found this a good read.

As far as I know the relay on a caravan should prevent anything else but 12v fridge and road lights from working when connected to the car.

Agree, the article in your link (caravanchronicles) is really helpful and interesting to newbies who know very little about electrics! I came across it when searching for help. There's so much to learn with this caravanning stuff!
