Wheel Lock

Grrr. We have a 2018 540 which, until now, has been happily insured with the Camping and Caravanning Club. We need to re-insure about now and have just received a letter saying that we can only be accepted for new for old basis, as before, if we fit an Alco Secure wheel lock. Is it possible to get one of these to fit an Eriba like ours (and if so could someone supply details please)? Rather stunned by the limitations of choice!!

Be blunt and ask them how this can be done as the system will not fit Eriba caravans.
Then when you feel happy having wasted their time take your business elsewhere. Look up the recent threads on insurance as some good advice to be found.

If the C&CC insurance arm is the same as the CMC, it will be a brokerage acting on the club's behalf, sourcing the cover via a panel of insurance companies. Restrictions, such as wheel locks will have been specified by the insurance company and if you won't/can't fit the item the brokerage should be able to find an alternative company that won't specify that particular restriction.

Still Grrr.... So after a couple more phone calls and a long wait the C&CC club sent us a list of their approved wheel locks:

* Al-Ko wheel lock (which we already know doesn't fit an Eriba)

* SAS wheel lock - Diamond (can only find it listed as Gold)

* BPW

* Winterhoff

If anyone has any details about these - e.g further information, whether any fit Eribas, stockists etc. I would be very grateful for information as we seem to be going round in circles!!.

SDA is right about C & CC Insurance being a broker.

I have been with them since 2016 and have always been insured with Aegas Insurance but when I got my documents this year, after some fairly robust haggling as I refused to drop the replacement value of our Troll, when I got my paper documents I was now with Amtrust Europe Insurance.................

I found them much more difficult & almost truculent to deal with this year and was not impressed. I will be doing the rounds for my next renewal

I think it's going to be SAGA.

In a recent posting I mentioned I'm insured through Cover4Caravans in Southend-on-Sea.
I have a Nemesis Ultra wheel lock and the Alko hitch lock. Van stored at home, £26.5K total cover, low excess, European cover, new for old at about £260.

Many thanks for all the replies. We're now with SAGA! Sad, really, after insuring with C&CC Clubcare for years.(I did get a reply to my e-mail to Clubcare. Apparently it could take 8 weeks to sort out my complaint!).
