Replacing window & floor 95 Familia

We recently had our 95 Pan Familia serviced and I’m feeling a bit sad and disheartened after reading the report. We’ve replaced the tyres and leisure battery, but a measurement of 50% damp was taken and it was noted the floor is spongey in places. The front window has water ingress which we’d assumed just meant the double glazing was damaged, but now presume it is letting in water. No idea why the floor is spongey but it could be related to the water ingress?

We are short of time and skills for caravan repairs, so bearing that in mind, we’d really appreciate any guidance on dealing with the problems.

Soggy floors and water ingress are repairable, but at the end of the day it is down to cost or your skills. You could be lucky and find it is a small spongy patch in the floor and a fairly easily replaceable window rubber has failed. It could however be a rotten floor and the seal has allowed water to get to the steel framework and rust has set in. You need to get the van to a specialist for a full assessment before spending any more money.
If you let members know where you are located then somebody may be able to advise on a mechanic or company.

Thanks Colin. We’re in West Yorkshire, would be grateful for a suitable trustworthy company.

The front window damp reading may be the rubbers need replacing, if they do here are some guides in the link below. If they are grey they will almost certainly need replacing as they deteriorate very quickly with the UV rays.

Thanks for recommending Tony Lloyd @scouteralf. Although he doesn’t take on repairs, he did pop over and had a look. He’s advised and reassured.

Hi. For some reason, I completely missed this thread when you first published it. Have you had the work done yet?

You say you're from West Yorkshire so is Congleton Cheshire too far for you. Leeds to Congleton is 83 miles 2hours.

These guys in Congleton know what they are doing when it comes to Eriba floor repairs.

Eriba Chassis Repairs. MPH at Congleton.

Here are some reviews from satisfied Eriba Owners.

Picked up our 1994 Triton from MPH vehicle repairs of Congleton Cheshire today. Ian, Martin and Steve know what they're doing when it comes to chassis repairs, servicing and preventative maintenance on Eribas. They've done nine Eribas now for people from far and wide. Our chassis is better than when it came out of the factory now! Mention me if you take yours along.

Martin (the yogi mechanic) and his team from MPH vehicle restorers 01260271649 did a great job restoring and replacing the rusty chassis on my van which is now good for another decade or two!! They also repainted the gas locker see the pre and post photos... highly recommended
