Dear Mr Ryan

Thank you for your e-mail regarding Baltic Wharf Caravan Club Site.

Due to the comments in your letter it has been passed on to the Regional Manager concerned, for him to reply.

Please be aware the response time can be up to 20 working days due to the fact the Regional Managers spend a great deal of time on the road visiting sites and are therefore away from their offices for a number of days at a time.  However, they do endeavour to respond as soon as they can.

Your cooperation in this matter is very much appreciated.

Yours sincerely

Lorraine Pollard

Subject: Nose in on Baltic Wharf

Dear Sir,

For the third time this year I have visited the Caravan Club site at Baltic Wharf, and each time I have been requested to nose in as I have a foreign caravan!

I have owned 2 foreign caravans over a total of 23 years in the UK and only ever been asked to do this at Baltic Wharf. Why is this the case? I have asked the wardens who did not seem to know, especially when I showed them a copy of a letter stating "that nose in or out" is not the club policy.

I am booked on here again in March, and no reference was made to this ruling in my booking, therefore I intend to strongly deny the request!

I do not have a mover nor do I intend to part with the best part of £1400 to have one fitted. As I am 60 I await with interest the clubs reaction should I slip, trip or fall on a possibly wet pitch, or god forgive suffer a heart attack! I guess you'll swerve that one with a good lawyer!

Yours very dissapointedly,

With regard to pitching, either reversing on to the pitch or nose-in is acceptable on all Club Sites, should it not interfere with the above spacing ruling.  Wardens also get complaints from members when awnings/doors face the neighbouring outfit's awning, due to lack of privacy, however this should not be a reason to disallow the above."

"Thank you for your email regarding the pitching layout we have now adopted on Club Sites across the network. I can confirm that on directly owned Caravan Club Sites the ruling accepts outfits either being pitched nose in or reversed on as long as the safety spacing requirement is adhered to.  With a network spread across The UK it takes a little time for our Regional Managers to work with the sites to do a proper assessment and get round all of the sites.  I do hope you continue to enjoy caravanning with The Club in the future.

Kind regardsRosie EatonSites Co-ordinator"

I emailed the caravan club about this a while ago (and have the emailed replies) my concern was I have owned german vans since 1991 and holidayed all over Europe and since our return to the UK we have stayed here for holidays and breaks away. I first noticed this about 2 years ago, and thought it was confined to one site (Baltic Wharf). However we have had this at several others as well, I usually trot out the email and then I'm allowed to pitch as usual (rear end on to the peg).
.
Once the Caravan Club introduces "something" I believe the others feel compelled to follow as "they're the Caravan Club" so it must be right

I asked them what would happen if whilst manhandling our van (no mover) I was to slip trip or fall, lose control on a slope, suffer a heart attack! I also told them that I thought they would swerve that issue with a fancy lawyer!

My reply was along the lines of, they have no nose in or out policy they just ask that the 6m rule is adhered to, and sometimes even that slips.

Ill thought out rules by someone keen to change something whilst there graduation certificate dries

Having only suffered the "jobsworthship" of one Caravan Club site (Cherry Hinton, Cambridge) I'm not in a position to comment about the rule. However, what does annoy me is that it would appear that there are some CC users who complain about privacy if a right hand door caravan decides to reverse onto a pitch.
Yet, I bet many of these whingers travel abroad but don't say a word when the shoe's on the other foot. Many UK caravans don't have a rear window so parking nose in would never be considered by their owners.

Or using the car to go to the toilets, empty the thetford, visit the site shop, empty the bin, I could go on but I think you get the picture, maybe as previously intimated I am Mr Grumpy

That one was aimed at me, Graham. Didn't you see the picture?

I still think that out of courtesy to the neighbours, we should try not to pitch awning to awning wherever possible. Parking across the pitch is a better option but the CC don't like it even with a small van. Anyway, get a mover, you tight git!

I think I might make an exception if the neighbours were a gaggle of comely young ladies. Actually, I might pitch so close that they'd be obliged to make the return journey from the showers through our awning.

And for what it's worth, I don't think you looked grumpy in that photograph.

I thought you looked ruggedly handsome.

I don't follow the out of courtesy thing, God forbid we should actually talk to our neighbours! I guess that would be a banning offence

The mover thing is personal, I can reverse so just don't need one therefore why should I buy one? I'm waiting although I doubt it'll happen to be asked to nose in next to water, I might just have to give the BMW a deep wash! under Caravan Club instructions of course

I though I had a photo of what some Brit with wobbly box did to us during the latter days of the EOC Abroad rally (Perhaps Frantone's got one?).
This bl**dy twonk decided to manoeuvre his van so that it was across the pitch. His tow hitch was however in the low shrub hedge that separated our emplacements which meant that it was approx. 2' from the rear side window of our van which resulted in him looking at me looking at him . He did this so that the blind back end of his van was approx. 4' away from the opposite hedge to enable him to get a step ladder up to wash the bl**dy van every morning. He used his tow hitch to reach the top front.
And he professed to be a rally organiser who had just left a rally elsewhere in France. Inconsiderate dick !!!

You're only saying that because I made a fuss of your guide dog.
