This months CC magazine (August) page 11, a notice about the 'policy'.
Basically it's there in black and white........whichever way you like as long as the fire precaution distance is obeyed.

Well spotted Tony.

In response to queries, there is no problem with pitching "nose-in" or "tail-in" on UK sites. If you pitch nose-in, please ensure your nearside is positioned on the pitch marker (this is to maintain the fire safety separation distance). If you'd like to pitch any other way, please talk to site staff.

We've just returned from an excellent stay at CC Normanhurst Court, E. Sussex and were given the option of pitching in either direction. My first stay on a CC site and we are very impressed.

On a slightly different subject but with the CC in mind, we have just booked two nights on a CL of theirs up in Yorkshire and they know we are not members.

welcome to Yorkshire,
perhaps the tour de didn't bring in the profits as expected, only places on route actually saw a huge increase in customers, other areas were like ghost towns.. or perhaps the pop up campsites are still allowed to work with the clubs.

We just had a few days on a commercial site in Lancashire. Absolutely lovely site apart from the nose out parking and keep to the far side of the pitch which meant our pup tent had to go on hard standing. When I queried it and pointed out the "continental" door side we were told the old "it's the fire regulations, nothing we can do about it, it's the rules". Grrr

They were only thinking of your safety Julie - UK fire extinguishers are all right hand drive so wouldn't work if you were anything than nose out. I hope you wore your hard hat in the shower too...

Hi both. Away during the week? Julie, does that mean that you've managed to stop Neil from coming out of retirement (again)? Do you keep him tied up or what?

Well Roger, he was retired and it lasted about 3 weeks. This week someone has gone on holiday and someone else is going into hospital for a heart bypass so the boss rang up, desperately short of staff. The result, Neil is back at work this week, what happens next week I have no idea. I'm beginning to think this retirement lark is harder to achieve than it appears

I had the same issue at a site in Lytham St Ann's! I was told it was so they could pull the vans clear in case of fire!
