Thanks, I'm on the lookout for something that I can put up and use in colder weather and I always travel alone.

We contacted NR a few weeks ago to try and obtain some replacement poles/joints recently. We had an issue when using our old Familia full awning in the garden last month that led to pooling by rain in the canopy and the sheer weight of the water caused some damage to the ridge poles.

NR told DH our awnings were commissioned and sold exclusively by AL and replacement parts are not available adding they no longer had an agreement with AL.

It probably takes me about 40 minutes from out of the bag and pegged down.We both find it big enough to eat in and put all our odds and ends in. A bit of a tip, when you attach the awning to the van via the zip on the rail do the little wing nuts next before you peg it down, that way you will get a bit of slack on each end. It will all become clear when you put it up....

Ok so now I'm trying to put the whole thing up ...................I just emailed AL with a snotty letter at the lack of instructions.

Finally found the 4 little bolts with wing nuts lurking in the bottom of the peg bag .................not a damn clue as to where they might go though

Also there is a double skirt arrangement where it fits against the van...................no idea how thats supposed to go either at the moment its over the frame and zipped to the rail but thats it so far.

a general view not ye model
the awning poles goes up near the roof on eribas, perhaps the bolts are for that part of the frame.
the poles can be adjusted to give torque to awning fabric with clamp and wing nuts normally on top poles extending out from caravan to front of awning

The wing nuts go through the holes at either end of the awning and the zip in piece in the caravan rail. AL told me that they are now easier to do up than those on the NR version which were very fiddly. In an earlier note I mentioned that (on NR advice) we don't bother with the wing nuts but use cable ties instead - much quicker and easier privided you have some scissors when you want to take them off and a supply of new ones! AL reckon they have improved on the NR design by having strengtheners at the top corners on the frame, mud skirts that can face inwards or outwards and an awning which will fit both earlier and later Eribas.

Ok thanks for that, now all I need do is sort these side flaps out

AL just emailed me the instructions and offered me more help if needed...........will see what they say about the side flaps (one grey and one dark one each side against the van)

Put the grey one inside with the pole nearest the 'van but don't let the pole bang against the 'van. There is a tape between the two flaps to tie round the pole. There is another tape at the top to tie round the top pole. The white flap goes outside and pegs down. (see picture if I manage to attach it). Well that' how we do it anyway.

Thanks I can see how the outside one goes............so you put the inside one inside the awning against the van?

That would partly cover the fridge vents on my triton.

Well yes. We arrange it so it only just skirts over it and if the flap is on the awning side of the pole (making sure that the pole doesn't rub against the 'van) then the flap doesn't actually touch the vent. We used it like that for a week in Dorset recently with no ill effects. Did you find the tapes to tie the flaps to the poles?

Aha - just seen your photo - looks like on the new AL awning the inside flap goes on the van side of the pole. You should srill be able to peg it so it doesn't actually touch or cover too much of the vent.

Just heard from AL again they class that as a draft excluder flap that does indeed go inside so i had a play and tucked part of it out of the way of the awning light and it sits a little away from the fridge vent one side and just lets the door open the other side

Many thanks Magpie for your help (and AL too)

Nev, your external top fixing point with the two wing nuts and Velcro either side looks a better improvement, the old version is very tight and close to the poles making them very fiddly to attach.

Hi Nev, I found the best way is to start at the back first. When the canvas is on the frame offer the the awning to the van, get the legs as close to the van and zip it on to the small strip that attaches it to the awning rail. Do the small wing nuts and then push the rear adjustable legs up until the apex is taught and wrinkle free. Peg down the back loops on either side keeping the frame close to the van, also ensure your awning is always fully zipped up when pegging out. I then move to the front two legs, I go inside to get the height and length making sure the poles fit the strengthened patches. ( again the awning is always zipped up to keep the shape and tautness), when I'm happy I peg the two front legs to follow the seems. The sides are then pegged out followed by the front. I will then go inside again and use the power grips to get the final tension to get it tighter, lastly I then peg out the storm straps doing the back ones first. As an extra tip I put pipe insulation on the poles closest to the van to avoid any damage, especially if like mine it crosses a window.

Thanks for that John, I find with mine it covers part of a window and also the external locker door so I need to get everything I need out of there before I start and I can't use the 240v socket I added in there.
Also I have to be careful it doesn't cover the awning light.
