Creaky Floor
Hi there
On our first outing with Millie and having a great time!! But.....
I've noticed the floor is creaking when I'm walking through her. I initially thought it added to the charm but now a nagging doubt has started to create a monster in my head.....
Please reassure me this is perfectly normal before I convince myself she's going to crack open like a huge egg!! Ha ha

Hi Elliemay, it's hard to say what it could be however if the floor feels a bit spongy at the same time it could be delamination, have a look at this thread.
Floor :-(
When I go on holiday I like to pop my top!
Hiya Elie,
I would not worry at all as far as I know the floor is solid as is all the metal work underneath you have a very solid little van. It creaked when I had it also my Troll creaks when walking up and down the van but again this is solid. When I did all the frame up last year I checked all the floor and found nothing at all wrong it was solid as far as I could see I am no expert but what I saw filled me with confidence that the van was solid. Hope this puts your mind at rest.

Thanks for the replies.
The floor isn't at all 'spongy' & I had a quick look under the van & couldn't see anything so all is good & as you said Steve, it's a solid & beauiful little van
I like the creaks, makes her more special

I spoke to a guy at the weekend who services all makes of caravans locally, and he tells me, lots of people hear "sounnds" from the floor and assume it is delamination, however in his 35 years experience most creaks can be put down to, the lino floor covering not being fully stuck to the plywood (it is common practise to glue the edges and just an occasional squirt elsewhere) he also mentioned "underseal" when you walk on the caravan floor it will move slightly, the underseal sticks and frees itself to and from the chassis, causing a worrying sound. He said you only need to worry if the floor is spongy! And even then it can be a relativly easy fix (delamination kits are available on ebay OR you could do it yourself with, glue, an injector (for the glue) and some dowels) I think your sorted now but just in case I hope this helps
Likes to wax and have a smooth finish! Has an empty space where once a very polished Eriba stood😎
Thanks for that Agger.
The sound is like a creaky crack, exactly like what you are describing with the lino not being 100% secured to the floor. It's only in the areas most stood on (can't believe there's an area that isn't stood on in that floor space!!)
I didn't want to put 'crack' in my original post as it sounded rather dramatic!!! I knew there was nothing wrong as I instantly trusted Mr & Mrs Morphy but being new to this & after a few tipples the doubts were starting to creep in.. No matter how much you prepare yourself, when you're new to something you're doing a leap of faith parting with a wad of money!!!
I like the sound, it's soothing knowing the bogey man won't get to me before the floor creaks

That's interesting because on this trip we noticed our floor covering gained some large "bubbles" in several places, particularly on the most walked on parts at the centre of the van.
We though it may have been caused by the extreme heat stretching the lino/cushion floor. It shrunk back into place by the time we arrived back in the UK and now looks as good as new.
