Pop Top Rubber Seal
We took our rubber off the pop top last week and gave it a good scrub, it's come up like new and it gave us the opportunity to clean the pop top edge as well. Doods also got some new grab handles fitted and a new decal fitted, he looks very posh now.

Yeah yeah, I know about you gentlemen getting confused over a couple of inches...
So even if there is a rubber seal present, either straight down on the roof or facing inwards...
you may as well just get simple trim because it doesn't actually function as a seal?
I think I'd still be tempted with replacement similar to my first pic above, and all the way round.
Owned too many Minis that dribbled water in through rear windows with old shrunk rubbers!

I may be wrong on this but it strikes me that the primary purpose of the rubber seal (apart from preventing abrasion between the pop-top and the roof) could be to prevent road dirt getting onto the canvas skirt while towing in bad weather.

The top two rubbers are boot seals, are they not ?
Eribas I have seen usually have the ordinary

are bound to be different)

On the subject of roof trim/seals, I have just spoken to a company called Seals+Direct. They told me they supply window and roof rubber seals to Automotive Leisure. Their premises are quite near AL and they have some knowledge of Eribas. I don't know what AL charge for renewing the roof seal but I just purchased a new seal for my 2007 Triton 430 for under £50.00, including next day delivery. The profile is ETS 1556 and can be viewed on Seals+Direct web site.

New seal ordered yesterday (Tues 25th). It arrived by 11.00 am today (Wed 26th) and is now fitted. When I removed the old seal I found the pop top was not cut evenly but this profile enabled a reasonably good finish....much better than the old one anyway. My only advice would be to clean the roof where the old seal was removed and install the new seal WITHOUT the aid of washing up liquid as a lubricant. It pops on better when dry and stays in place. Total cost of the job - £49.60.

I believe AL charge £9.00/metre for same trim which for the Troll you need 9 metres so £81.00 plus postage. Replaced mine using same from Seals Direct 3 months ago.

Hi,
so our 78 triton does not have a pop top 'seal'. The edge of the pop top and the roof of the caravan were always touching each other so I decided to get a 'seal'. Base on the recommendation I purchased 9m of ET1556.
Its now fitted and its great. The hooks inside the caravan are a little harder to get into place now due to the extra addition of the seal but I expect this will soften over time.
The pop top looks better for the addition of the seal and it any one is considering this (as they don't have a pop top seal) then I think it's a worthy piece of maintenance.
cheers
