Thanks for all your comments- just to put the record straight - I didn't lie- just typing on an iPad isn't that great!! I AM in my sixties- but nearer 60 than 65!! I am also only 5ft 4 inches so can stand in the familia without the top up- just about.... Can't wait until the weekend- it's all very exciting... Don't think there is any doubt that the bigger Eriba's are more useful- but it's the towing of them that makes the trade off for us- I think we would use it more the easier it was to move around. We had a German Dethleffs caravan in our twenty' sand it was always a bit of a chore towing it - or Algy felt it was. I have never towed anything but may do the caravan club course this time around - I am a very very cautious driver and I reckon they would need a week to teach me but we'll see- watch this space. Have to go and do some gardening now....

from Tony & Frances

We have had 4 different Eriba models over 20 years and from personal experience I would think very carefully about sleeping across the caravan. You may fit crossways comfortably and you may not need to get up during the night but you will, inevitably, have to get up in the morning and go to bed at night. The issue is that the only point of entry and exit is between the fridge and wardrobe which directs you across the chest/stomach of your partner, getting across legs and feet is easy but across the torso is not. Whilst at AL do the actual bed 'manoeuvres' and try not to be too complacent in the excitement of the day! It's all too easy to think "oh that's easy, we can manage that!"

Then go and look at any of the long sleeper versions.

Isabella are supposed to be agents for Unico awnings in this country and I think they even have them branded as Isabella but i found them completely unhelpfully uncommunicative. I believe they are actually made by Unico. The Bologna is certainly the dog's Bolognas of awnings (IMHO). We bought ours from Bax Totaal Recreatie, Holland.

We are in North Manchester and have a 2012 Familia 320, as Hob says we started with a Puck and then upgraded to the Familia for a bit more room and the important toilet.. We use the AL Porch awning which we find very easy to erect and big enough for the two of us for a couple of weeks. When we use the awning we will leave the bed made up so we can flop on it when we want......

Correct- going down to Poole on Friday- staying over - seeing Cameron on Saturday morning - and then travelling back - with a caravan perhaps? I'll let you know how we get on. Will definitely do the manoeuvres!!

Hello fellow mancunians.. Do you have any problems sleeping in your Eriba as suggested by others? Can you recommend any storage sites in Manchester?

We like others started small we had the Puck to begin with I thought it was fantastic Mrs Morphy not happy at all with the size. We upgraded to the Troll and I have to say once on site and set up it is fantastic and in my opinion is far better for our needs than the Puck.

One main reason is for a weekend trip we had to put the awning up with the Puck just for storage room. But with the Troll no need for any awning just set up and enjoy isn't that what it is all about?

The towing is not a problem Eriba's are known for there friendly towing manners. Once on site we had a motor mover fit so putting onto any tight pitch is no problem whatsoever neither is getting off. On setting off and returning at home again with the motor mover no problem at all.

All comes down to personal choice and your own requirements and size of pocket. I don't think there is a bad Eriba design one size does not fit all, and with the Eriba they hold there value should you decide to change. Good luck to all future Eriba owners you wont be disappointed in any and as said you can always change. As hob said though they are not cheap and it is a or could be a big expense take your time but they really do hold there money.

Morphy.

Hi HT6,
Ref post #23 I don't think you can buy from AL and 'take away'. The vans need prepping before going.

Was it something I pressed unwittingly ? I have no idea what I am doing really - just trying to muddle through....Thanks for trying to assist.

Hi due to the Familias small dimensions I can get it on our drive, However try the link below for secure storage near you. Sleeping wise myself and the wife don't have an issues, although we are both only 5'2" tall. As you are only 5'4" you will be fine...

Thank you very much. We can get it on our drive so may do that - may use it more if it easily accessible - also storage seems quite expensive - do you use a cover for it or is it OK left out in all the snow etc?

We bought a cover for our Puck as it would be standing out in the drive from Nov to March. Leave the windows on vent setting, make sure it's locked and everything on a check list OK.
