Zitat
as an aside how did I get there blue duck as my image on the forum?? Was it something I pressed unwittingly ? I have no idea what I am doing really - just trying to muddle through....Thanks for trying to assist.

The little blue bird is the default image for new members, you now have the female default image so you must have altered your profile to say you are female.

Not always a good idea to keep it on your drive, when its not there the bad boys know you're away, also you can get an insurance reduction with a cassoa site.

I have the 420 and just returned from a holiday near Poole. popped into AL while there for a look and they have lots of vans. Have to say that the 420 is so easy to tow and the long beds mean I can go away with a friend as it makes up as twin beds. As others have said look around at all models and don't get carried away. Don't know what AL use to vallet their Eribas but was not a nice smell, not dirty either but bit odd mothball. When I had mine it was very neutral but noticed that every Eriba I looked in while there had n odd odour.

Not all 420s have the option of one huge double or two single beds.

Ours is double bed only although if the caravan is being used by one person, a single bed can be left made up and the table can still be used together with the bench seat on the opposite side.

With the big double, nocturnal micturition involves shuffling feet first to the end of the bed to access the washroom whereas separate singles leave a central walkway that would permit a much more dignified exit and re-entry.

Life and Eribas are full of compromises.

I totally agree- that is the main negative of having it on the drive- will have to give it some careful thought ....

Hello. We now store our Familia at Edenfield Storage, Bury, it's a cassoa rated site with good security and up to now we are happy there. The cost is approx 350.00 pa. Our Eriba has a fixed bed which is extremely comfy and at present I am still able to climb over hubby if need be for a nighttime toilet run. We don't have a loo in our 310, we just don't like them. Although it would break my heart to part with Doo-Dah the day may come when we will need a different layout as one of our dogs usually sleeps in the awning but as she has just been diagnosed with severe hip dysplacia and osteoarthritis at the young age of 4 she will need to be warmer at night in the cold wet weather. Maybe one day a troll will have to be the answer, who knows. Last week we were up at Kirkby Lonsdale Picking up a car ramp for our German Shepherds to get in and out of the car easier and we called in at Airstream for a nosey. There is a good choice of Eriba to view and way up the different layouts. Our ideal Eriba right now would be a troll without a loo as we would prefer the floorspace but I've never heard of one having been made. Just incase anyone looking for a 310 is interested there is a fantastic Gold Edition advertised on preloved UK, I just love this special edition as we were next to one on one of our trips away. Hope all my wittering is of some help. Best wishes. Ellen.

If I'm not mistaken Ellen, the Troll 510 is a 4 berth without a toilet/washroom but there are very few of them.

Thanks Roger, i bet finding one would be as difficult as parting with doo-dah, not sure if either would happen. We came away from Airstream thinking that although some of the Eribas were very nice there was not one that we would swap for. On Thursday we are taking our grandkids to Llanrwst, Mark will be in the nova with the boys and us little girlies will have our beloved Eriba to ourselves. I have lots treats stashed away for when we are boy free! Hope you are both keeping well. Ellen.

Well, how's that for a coincidence :- http://www.automotiveleisure.co.uk/page17.html

Very rare indeed and a good buy for someone who doesn't need a toilet facility. Looks like it comes with an awning too (AL don't advertise awnings or guarantee them but they take a picture of the bag full of bits if it came with the van).

When we park it for winter we turn the Puck round, used to be pushing and pulling, but mover now, thankfully a flat area.

The tow bar was then inwards, with the hitch lock on, the wheel lock on and everything under cover.
