Sarah - I would recommend that you obtain a rain cowl (or two) - essential for the spike nearest the caravan to prevent rain water running down the spike/poles and into the awning. The spikes at the front aren't too critical as they are located outside of the main awning living area although it wouldn't do any harm to fit the cowls on these spikes also.
Fit the rain cowl over the back spike at the early stage of erecting the awning because once it's up you won't have access to the spike unless your pop-up roof has a ventilation window (ours does) which allows you access to it later.
The link is simply by way of illustrative example http://caravanalia.com/product/rain-cowl/361

They go over the exposed ends of the awning poles outside the fabric.

They should be a tight fit onto the spokes and will then deflect rain water away from the hole itself.
In the case of Van der Horn type awnings with the central rear vertical piece the cowl has to be put on from inside the van through the side ventilation mesh.

I've got an unopened pack of them with my awning and hadn't a clue what they were used for.
I was hopeful, but it turned out I'd put all my basques in one exit.
My life is littered with things that seemed like a good idea at the time...

Blimey all this talk of burlesque is a bit to risky for me.
Think I will go to another forum. Perhaps to do with tetra neon fish . Not that I like them or anything .
That will do you no good at all. Full of kissing goramies, tiger barbs and sucking loaches

Now all I need is to fill all the holes left in the awning rail from the Omnistor sun canopy brackets......anybody know what type of filler would be best for this job? Am thinking some kind of rubberised sealant so it remains flexible but water resistant? Should I fill the hole in the rail with sealant then plug with a screw also?
I really don't want any water ingress on my lovely little Puck!!!!
